Smile! It’s Ingrid

29 Jul , 2015

At Méduse, we strive to seek out the underground talents who share our values. Every week, a new star…

‘I had a pair of jelly sandals when I was younger and they were the only shoes I would wear’

Méduse talks with… Smilingrid!

She’s a girl who rocks a Hollywood smile, but she comes from buzzing Boston! Ingrid aka ‘Smiling Ingrid’ is a bright and colourful blogger who aims to inspire and share her zest for life! Red lipstick, coffee and jelly shoes are her loves – to mention a few! Take it away Ingrid!

M – So Ingrid, we’ve been looking at your blog and you mention a number of things you love in life (we just mentioned a few above! 😉 ) How would you summarise it in a few lines?

I – I am a very happy person, which is why my blog name combines “smiling” and my name “Ingrid”. My longest-standing passions include language, reading, and (of course) fashion! The first passion led me to study French, the second to study literature and, combined with the third, begin my blog… which then led me to the ever-fashionable Meduse!

M – We’re curious to know – how did you discover Méduse? What do our jelly shoes evoke for you?

I – I discovered Meduse through your blogger collaborations! I had a pair of jelly sandals when I was younger and they were the only shoes I would wear – I even wore them as flower girl at my aunt’s wedding! That memory is the one evoked by your brand, of nostalgia and happiness… paired with lots of beautiful flowers!

M – CHALLENGE: On your blog, you show an unconditional love for fashion! So we must ask… what’s your favourite pair of Méduse? With this, we challenge you to create the perfect outfit with these shoes and show it in a styleboard! Feel free to match it with a varnish, a lipstick… we know you have a taste for those things! 😉

I – Oh my gosh, such a hard choice! I love the Nikita for a night out and the Camino for rainy days… but I think my favorite pair of Méduses would have to be the Sun in gold glitter, because they are the grown up, more chic version of the jellies I had as a child! These are fun!

M – You’re a jet setter, always travelling around the world! Where are you going next? And which pair of Méduse would you pack in your suitcase?

I – I’m heading to Cancun at the end of the month! I would definitely pack a pair of the Méduses Sunlight in Corail to bring with me – they’d be the perfect color against the sea and sand, plus it would be so cool to see them glow at night!

We know it, you know it, Ingrid knows it! She’s got that Méduse vibe that runs in our colourful world and we love it! Her zest for life makes us want to put on our glowing Méduse and skip towards the sun! What a gal! Thank you so much for joining us Ingrid! We love your enthusiasm, and your blog keeps us buzzing! Keep up to date with her snapshots and thoughts on her blog Smiling Ingrid here!

 A bientôt !

The Jelly Lesson: How to wear plastic… with plastic jelly shoes!

7 May , 2015

Your weekly jelly lesson, from us to you.

Jelly Step 1: If you’re in the mood for a
night out – how about this perfect plastic
creation by Christopher Kane with our
silver glitter NIKITA?

Jelly Step 2: Raining outside? Well you
can look bloomin’ gorgeous with this
cute floral rainmac from Topshop, teamed
with our Saumon Jumpy boots.

Jelly Step 3: Everyone needs an umbrella!
We’re in love with this birdcage umbrella
by Lulu Guinness, and we think it’s perfect
to go with our Vert d’eau Salsa.

Jelly Step 4: Neon and plastic are a match
made in heaven. And you know what else?
Colour clashing too! This neon bag from New
is ace with our coral SUNLIGHT!

Jelly Step 5: Match what’s on your feet, with
what’s on your face. Sunny sunglasses from
Urban Outfitters, matched with our SUN

Méduse Diary – The Ultimate Méduse Fashion Hunt

9 Apr , 2015

150409_Facebook_diary_styleboard_Easter Hunt by Meduse

Each week we cover a theme that is close to our jelly-hearts. We love to dig deep and write our thoughts on trends, fiction and culture in our diary here!

Now we know you’ve been keeping busy with hunting eggs, but now we’re doing our own little hunt, where you can come along too!

Our hunt doesn’t consist of chocolate eggs – oh no, we’ve already moved on from that – instead we’re on the look for some other bits and bobs after Easter, things that are as close to our hearts as chocolate – clothes, music, accessories – you get the gist.

And as we’re well versed in prowling for the latest fashion pieces, let us put on the pair of Méduse that will get us roaring and ready for our hunt. Of course it’s our leopard print Jumpy boots. RIGHT! Now that they’re on – let’s go!

We’re on the look for something that shouts Easter fashion! And there’s nothing more fitting than this awesome T-Shirt from Petit Bateau, designed by fashion best bunny, Fifi Lapin! IT’S SO CUTE!

Screenshot (35)

We’re not gonna lie to you, we’re guilty of feeling hungry all the time. As soon as the fridge door shuts… it opens again (woops…) so we’ve found the perfect little lunch bag, to stock away our pots of jelly and carrots (come join us Fifi Lapin!) Check out this wild Safari Park lunch bag from Paperchase!

And you know us by now – we search high and low, for the best upcoming talents around the world. And we found something very special, from our homeland of France (quelle surprise)! Electro-musician Sayacet aka Pierre Lefeuvre is a man who we can’t stop listening to. His latest song ‘Mirages’ is an overload of  ear candy (it’s Easter after all). Think M83 with a twist!

We’ve found all the things we’ve been looking for, and well, we’re very happy! *smiles smugly*

We hope you enjoyed the hunt!

Meduse Styleboards Jutam vs Nikita

Each week we cover a theme that is close to our jelly-hearts. We love to dig deep and write our thoughts on trends, fiction and culture in our diary here!

With the fashion weeks over and Spring officially starting on the 20th March, we’re feeling… well very seasonal! This Spring / Summer 15 we’re excited to reveal that we have two awesome colours which are joining our Méduse family! And they are the Saumon, a pinky-peachy salmon shade, and the Vert d’eau, a minty sea-green!

Meduse Spring Shades

And with that, we’ve picked out the two hottest Spring trends that we saw on the catwalk – cool culottes and killer kimonos. They’re everywhere this season!

We’re starting of one of our spring looks with these monochrome printed culottes, teamed with our shiny new pair of Salmon Jutam Méduse. Embellish your coral / culottes look with a jewelled shirt, like this one from River Island!

Méduse Talks… With Boutique Addict

11 Mar , 2015

Méduse Jumpy boots by boutique addict

At Méduse, we strive to seek out the underground talents who share our values. Another week, another star…

You guys have been making us ROAR all week! So much so, that the king of the jungle, would be jealous!

We said goodbye to caffeine as we were buzzed by our animal print theme this week, and the weekend is set to look fierce! We went to a land far, far, away to explore the animal print world, and to end this week we spoke to a true Méduse star who has consistently shown her apt for trendy fashion and styles. We give you Virginie, of Boutique Addict who shares her opinions on the fashions she’s fallen in love with!

boutique 3

Is it the way you dress that influences your mood? Or rather your mood inspiring the way you dress?

My mood inspires my daily look 😉 and the weather forecast of course! When it’s raining, I like to dress with lots of colour, or some quirky accessories. When it’s cold, I like to dress with soft shades and I make sure that I’m comfy

boutique 1

Does wearing your zebra Jumpy or leopard print Jumpy make you feel wilder? More energetic?
I like my zebra Jumpy because they are have a fashionable quirkiness. I wear them whenever it’s raining and I find that they enhance my outfit. So yes, I feel more energetic when I wear them and I can stay stylish even if it’s raining!
What colour do you prefer to wear with this kind of animal print?
I prefer to wear them with coordinating the beige colour to highlight the zebra print of the boots. :-) I find that grey also matches well.
boutique 2
Could you draw an animal that represents you? ( No worries, we are not expecting a piece of art, a quick sketch on Paint will be perfect :-D )
Here is the sketch:

It’s not a secret that we adore the accessories you pick every day. That’s why we challenge you: take a picture of yourself or your team, wearing some animal print accessories whilst posing like a wild animal! Challenge accepted? If you complete the challenge, you can challenge us to do something! ;-)

Here is the picture of myself (right) with my assistant!

Watch out! She’s coming to get you!

Thank you Virginie! We hope to come and visit you in Bordeaux sometime soon! We’re dreaming of discovering your wild treasures and chatting about exotic fashion with you!

Follow the queen of styling accessories on her Instagram and Facebook! She snaps quirky styling tips and shows how certain items can mix and match with one another. She’s a fashionista to keep an eye on!

Ciao for now!

Light Up the Night!

10 Mar , 2015

party nightlife light effect

This year’s Who’s Next got us dreaming…about full moon parties. YES! Thousands of people gathering on the beaches of Kho Phangan each month with one fashion rule in mind – glow in the dark. Luminous paints aren’t the only accessory though – and Who’s Next Future of Fashion collaboration had one aim – to celebrate futuristic glow in the dark any way you can!

Who’s Next joined forces with 12 emerging designers to paint a glowing fashion story through a select few pieces – everything from a suitcase to a pair of socks featured in all their phosphorescent glory. A whole host of items we’re totally jelly of, and the perfect companions to our very own SUNLIGHT jellies!

The #GlownInTheDark trend was given centre stage on Sunday evening with a darkened corner of Who’s Next ‘graffiti’d’ with glow in the dark ink. It was a cool space that we felt pretty at home in – and we even spotted a photographer Gabriel Misfire who captured this awesome shot featuring his blog name – Will Shoot People for Food.

So here are a few of our glowing picks from this year’s event. SUNLIGHT jellies at the ready and bring on the full moon dance!

Raise your hands and rival the moon with the amazing nails from Alfa K.

As the night draws on – you may find yourself in need of one of these amazing jerseys from Louise de Testa, with their fluorescent futurist designs, it’s our kind of playful! Louise de Testa owns it.

Then, there’s something a little left field but quite up our street – we are in love with Cornaërt socks, because well, your feed need accessorizing too – and why not get a little funky and pair jellies with socks?

Oh and a cool Tokyo fashion statement from Serious Wapanese (it’s a cool look, we promise!)

Aaand lastly, but certainly not least, our SUNLIGHT jellies.  Perfect whether you’re prancing on the sand or splashing in the ocean! Something for the fish to look at too :)

What do you think to the glow in the dark trend?
