Méduse in Taiwan

22 Jul , 2015

At Méduse, we strive to seek out the underground talents who share our values. Every week, a new star…

Méduse talks with… Wendy!

“As soon as we wear Méduse, we totally fall in love with them. They are soft, they are beautiful, and they are French original.”

Meet Wendy – the hip-happening Méduse hero of Taiwan! She displays our jelly-tastic shoes in her boutique for the world to see and she loves to fuse French original fashion with traditional Taiwanese styles. Take a look at our very special interview here!

M – So! You guys know how to show off your Méduses with a Taiwanese edge – something we LOVE! Tell us a bit more about the love story between Méduse and people in Taiwan? What is it about our unique shoes that people like? Is it the style? Texture? Or something else?

W – We love jelly shoes because of the weather in Taiwan – summer is extremely hot and winter is very wet. In particular, Taiwan is an island surrounded by the sea, therefore, people really love to enjoy sunshine on the beach in the summer. But we couldn’t really find stylish jelly shoes in the market. But, in 2015, we found Méduse! Our first impression of Méduse is that it has an elegant design for both sandals and boots. As soon as we wear Méduse, we totally fall in love with them. They are soft, they are beautiful, and they are French original. Now, we can wear our Méduse shoes and walk by the seaside with our family, our friends, and our kids. How romantic it is!

M – Wearing Méduse… is something very French! As you are Méduse experts in Taiwan, can you tell us about French fashion styles in Taiwan? Is there a fashion fusion of French and Taiwanese styles? What does it look like?

W – For us, French fashion styles are elegant, chic, romantic, and simple. Taiwanese like to mix styles from different cultures, such as the Japanese and Korean ones. But compared to Japanese or Korean girls, Taiwanese girls prefer more casual yet elegant styles. So mixing the French style into the Taiwanese one, gives a very casual but stylish look.

M – Summer is here and all we’ve been doing is prancing around in our SUN sandals! We know you love these Méduses just as much as us, so can you give us some tips on how to style them up this summer?

W – The summer has started much earlier in Taiwan! Our tips to wear the SUN jelly shoes are:

Tip 1 – choose the most comfortable T-shirt from your wardrobe

Tip 2 – select the softest TUTU skirt or cool denim jeans

Tip 3 – put on your SUN jellies and wear a straw hat.

And there you have your SUN jelly style. 😉

M – And finally, we’ve set you and your sister a challenge! It’s called the ‘Méduse Surprise!’ We would like each of you to pick a pair of Méduse and a matching traditional Taiwanese outfit for the other person! Surprise each other with your chosen outfit and Méduses, take some photos and share your Taiwanese / French style with us!

W – It really is a challenge for us! We found two traditional clothes from our grandmother and our mother, who are 84 years old and 58 years old respectively, to mix and match the Méduse shoes – and that was interesting!

The first style – which my sister chose for me, is from my grandmother. The coat, called Miao-ao, is traditional hand-made and the fabric is more than 30 years old. I think it matches very well with the Jumpy boots!

W – The second style is the one I chose for my sister. The dress, called Qi-pao, is my mum’s favourite. We are surprised to see that it is a good match with the NIKITA jelly shoes!
