Méduse & Charlotte Hollycat

12 Aug , 2015

Charlotte hollycat

At Méduse, we strive to seek out the underground talents who share our values. Every week, a new star…

‘I hope my Méduses tour the world!’

Méduse talks with… Charlotte!

Cats and Méduse – probably the two coolest things on the planet, and y’know what? Charlotte knows it! Let us introduce you to Charlotte Hollycat – a happy-snapping photography lover, rainbow adorer and #MeduseColor winner!

M – You are now part of the Méduse family! Who are you Jelly lover?

C – My name is Charlotte or @ _Hollycat on Instagram, I’m nearly 25 and I’ve been living in Montpellier since the start of this year. I’m passionate about photography, a summer-lover and I’m a big kid! It’s one of the reasons why I took my Méduses to live with me, down in the south of France with my boyfriend. It’s funny that you say that I’m part of the Méduse family, it’s true because my boyfriend is fascinated by jellyfish! I’m currently working for a mobile and fibre network but I hope to change soon, but I’m not sure what field just yet!

11830714_10207089698899049_1026728182_n

M – Méduse often recalls sentimental memories and stories from the past and present. What’s your story with Méduse?

C – Indeed, I think that with everyone Méduse reminds us of our childhood – when we went to the seaside with our parents, we wore our Méduses in the water. It wasn’t for style purposes, but more to avoid cuts from shells or stings from sea creatures; but today, we wear Méduse to show off its fashion features. Youngsters and older generations are wearing their Méduses to go to the beach or even downtown – they’re so comfortable! When I hear the word  « Méduse » I think of the shoes, but also the animal, naturally because of my boyfriend! I find the animal fascinating as they’re so colourful, just like your lovely shoes! Colours that make you think about summer, happiness… life.

M – Going back to #MeduseColor! What’s your favourite colour and what does it represent to you?

C – It’s a tough choice, as I love many colours, and I have my phases. Many will say red because it’s the colour of sensuality and love – it’s the colour to give a ‘pizzazz’ to a woman’s face. But if I had to choose a particular colour I would go for blue, sky blue, because to me it represents freedom, the ability to fly away and to travel. But also, all the beings that are now up above, that we love and won’t forget… they are watching us from the sky. There is also ocean-blue which is a reminder of the vast stretch where jellyfish live, I’m absolutely fascinated with sea life, but at the same time it scares me a little. But as I said, I love summer, beaches and Méduse!

10153025_1069172606445796_1793762897388292444_n

M – Speaking about fashion! You won three pairs of Méduses, each with a very different style. What outfit will you match them with? Where will you journey to in them? We’d love to see some snapshots!

C – I’m not the kind of girl who will prepare her outfit the night before, or ask herself how she is going to wear a specific piece of clothing. I’m more of a ‘wanna try any style combination’ type of person, even if I’m running late! I love looking through my stuff to experiment with numerous outfits. So it’s hard for me to answer your question. I will style my Méduses with dresses, jeans, shorts… ANYTHING! It’s really down to the spur of the moment. And where will I walk in them? Well anywhere I’ll be going, I love to travel! I hope my Méduses tour the world!

You promised that your Méduses would go on adventures – and you’ve kept it ;-). Charlotte, we hope you make many more memories with Méduse! Whether you’re hanging by jellyfish in your SUN Méduse or simply going for a stroll in your Jumpy boots during the Autumn showers! Keep up to date with Charlotte’s daily snapshots on her Instagram here!

The Colour Edit: Blue, a Colour for a King / Queen

13 May , 2015

Blue

Blue strip

Colour – it’s what makes our minds tick.

Discovered when the Egyptians found ‘lapis lazuli’, blue was seen as colour that was rich, royal and
regal. So what is the story of blue, from then to now?

– Around 2500BC, Egyptians experimented with inventing the world’s first artificial pigment,
the ‘Egyptian blue’ – hoorah! The world then followed suit…

– The industrial age was when the perception of the rich blue changed – ‘workaday woad’ was
a plant used to create blue fabric dye. Unfortunately it reeked (as it was made with manure)
and the colour was not as intense. Boo!

– But with the wave of modern manufacturing methods, blue pigments became cheaper. Cue
Picasso and his blue period from 1901…

– And from the 1950’s to present, blue has never been more alive. From Elvis’s Blue Suede
Shoes to the blue and black dress (or white and gold ha!), blue is in all areas of life.

How do you see blue? Rich and regal? Or, awesome and accessible?

Méduse Talks With… Méduse !!!

17 Apr , 2015

2

At Méduse, we strive to seek out the underground talents who share our values. Every week, a new star…

Come on! You have to admit it. The new Méduse collection for Spring / Summer 15 is pretty damn awesome ;-). We’re forever twirling in our sparkling Nikita and we dance and prance on the rooftops of Paris in our new colours of the season.

But our inspiration stems from the heroic geniuses backstage, and we decided to chat to the clever clogs about the spirit and thought process behind our current season!

Meduse - New Rainbow

Our new collection is filled with colours that enhance the styles at Méduse. What would be THE word to describe this collection?

CANDY : because of the pastel mix that makes us think of sugar almonds and candy! And most of all, the nostalgic “back to childhood” spirit of our SUN jellies!

The new SUNLIGHT are a sparkling inspiration 😉 ! Where would be the best spots to wear them ?

Ibiza at sunset to party all night long! And for the kiddos : perfect to play ghosts in the dark :-)

Meduse - Glow in the dark

The new Saumon and Vert d’eau colors are a perfect match with the pastel trend. Why did you pick these colours ?

We needed some sweet tastes for the summer. Pastel are soft and feminine colours, which introduce the Spring season, the softness of the morning dew and the pleasure of sweet moments.

The new magazine for the new collection in collaboration with Les Paulettes is featured with pictures on the rooftops of Paris. What is the inspiration behind these pictures ?

The rooftops of Paris are synonymous with escapism and city adventure! This is the place where you chill with a few drinks with your friends or have a romantic time with your lover. It is a way to escape from the bustling city when in reality you can’t. But this is what Méduse is about – a walking holiday in the city!

Meduse - SS15 catalogue

Et voila! Words of wisdom from our backstage team!

A huge THANKS to the designers of Méduse, for sharing their words and spirit with us! Keep it up! <3

Méduse Talks… With Joséphine L.

3 Apr , 2015

Jo Lignac Socks & Jellies Set Featured Image

At Méduse, we strive to seek out the underground talents who share our values. Every week, a new star…

Yo! Yo! Between Paris, where she is living her student life – let’s be honest, that’s really PARTY, PARTY, PARTY (haha) and Bordeaux, where she is loving life under the sun and on beaches – well, for us – that still means party, party, party! 😉 Joséphine is painting the town pink!

Jo7 - Meduse interview

On your Instagram you describe yourself as a girl between two cities! How do you identify yourself as a Parisian? And as a Bordelaise girl?

I would say that Paris represents my student life, filled with cultural activites. It’s a city I really love, every street corner is beautiful, I could walk for hours on end, if I had time!

Bordeaux is a place for my holidays – I love the sun and the beach life. It’s my family town, where I spent my childhood.

Jo5 - Meduse interviewJo1 - Meduse interview

We spent some time on your Instagram, and we noticed that you love pink! So what does this colour mean to you?

Oh yes indeed, I have a little addiction for the colour! For me, it’s a colour which represents softness and childhood, as well as femininity and sensuality. And well, it’s pink – it always makes people happy!

Jo8- Meduse interview

We love going on an adventure! Where would you take Méduse in Bordeaux?

Without any hesitation, I would take you to the Miroir d’Eau. It’s not very original but Méduse would be perfect to be in, by the water. Otherwise, I would take my Méduse to Karl for brunch, walk around St Catherine street and enjoy the taste of cannelés on a terrace. Once, I put on my Méduse during shopping, and people were very surprised, to see me wearing these kinda shoes on the street. But I am 100% proud to wear them!

Jo2_Meduse interview

You’re the queen for the day, what do you do?

I would demand that pink would be the dress-code for everyone, or people would have to pay a fine! And of course, having free shopping / shop without paying 😉

What do you have in your bag?

  • Red lipstick (I can’t live without it)
  • A nail file
  • Hand sanitiser
  • A toiletry bag
  • My pink Ipod
  • My pink notebook
  • My glasses
  • My purse, of course

Jo4 - Meduse interview

Challenge! We’d like you to tell a joke for April Fool’s!

I’m really rubbish at jokes but I’ll give it a go!

What’s a Méduse (jellyfish) in chocolate called?

A Kinder chocolate!
…. I told you I was rubbish.

Ah come on! That’s a very sweet joke! If it’s mentioning Méduse – we will always love it 😉

Thanks Joséphine! We’re hoping for more surprises on your Instagram! Guys, we encourage you to have a look her awesome / arty photos – it’s even better than her joke! Haha 😉

Méduse Talks With… Eva, of Girls’n Nantes

31 Mar , 2015

GirlsNantes - Meduse interview 3

At Méduse, we strive to seek out the underground talents who share our values. Every week,  a new star…

We’re whisking you off to a fairy-tale land with Eva, a blogger from Nantes who rides on her unicorn and sprinkles her glitter dust all around her town. She’s quirky, cool and leaves a sparkly trail of Méduse wherever she goes!

GirlsNantes - Meduse interview 2

Who are you Jelly lover?

Eva, 34 years old, and still in good shape ! I have 2 kids, who are 4 and 6 (rock’n’roll!). I write a lifestyle blog, where I make my readers discover Nantes on a unicorn’s back. My favorite colour is a sparkly pink !

What makes you an eccentric person?

Good question, I have always felt a bit different! I would say that I sparkle from head to toe.

 GirlsNantes - Meduse interview 4

Tell us something crazy you have done!

I lived in Paris for 10 years! Unbearable for a country girl, or someone like me coming from a smaller city. I’m kidding, I enjoyed my life in Paris. I do crazy things everyday and I want every minute to be a burst of laughter.

One word to describe Méduse 😀 ?

Only one ? FUN.

We read a recent article on your blog about the “do’s & don’ts” for Spring. What would be your ‘do’s’ for wearing Méduse this summer?

At the beach, on the rocks, at parties with sparkling socks and a mini skirt, and in town of course. There’s no specific reason. Everything goes with Méduse!

We have a lot in common Eva – we are also from Nantes :-). If you were to take someone to visit Nantes, where would you go?

Ooh, a neighbor from Nantes <3

I would take them on a traditional tour to the “Les Machines de l’Ile”, a visit to the Chateau des Ducs de Bretagne where I am living of course! … not really ;-).

Then, I’d go for a stroll in Trentemoult, a drink at the bar Le Nid, and try out all the good restaurants.. because food is life!

 GirlsNantes - Meduse interview

Et voila! We’re off now, to hop on Eva’s unicorn and fly back to our hometown of Méduse! Fancy joining?

We’d like to send a huge jelly-hug to Eva, for her interview! You’ve been a star – or should we say unicorn 😉

Discover Eva’s blog, Twitter and Facebook  to see what magic she sparks in her world!

Au revoir for now!

But really this week, is sincerely dedicated to the big jelly-loving peeps out there, and in particular two very special superfans…

As you know we spoke to Méduse follower Céline Rodrigues, who had a lot to say about her stylish world. With lots and lots of fashion tips and wise thoughts to ponder on, Céline sure did get us dreaming!

But our week was truly swarmed by singing starlet Sarah Sakusei, who created the BEST jelly song, we’ve EVER heard… EVER! If you haven’t seen it yet, then you really ought to click play button and hear the tune!

So yeah, jelly love has totally been in the air this week! But that’s not all, of course: we ain’t leaving you hanging as here are the best Jumpy snapshots of the week. Big, bold, BOOTIFUL.

SS15 Pantone Palette – Are You Ready For Spring?

10 Mar , 2015

Collage Pantone ss15 & Méduse Jumpy boots

We love colour – everyone knows that! And Pantone’s fashion colour report for spring 2015 has totally captured our mind.

This spring, it’s time to take a step away from the bold and bright, as Pantone are opting for “soft, cool hues” to “blend with subtle warm tones to create a soothing escape from the everyday hustle and bustle.” Think about it – everyday, you’re faced with thousands of commuters. No rest. No peace. You arrive home, and you just want to relax! What better way than to chill in a room filled with a warm colour? Take a look at the following tones… which one would you pick?

pantone

But our favourite shades from SS15 are the dreamy Strawberry Ice and the minty Lucite Green, they just give off a real summery vibe! We’re not the only ones who are into these shades as designers  Yiqing Yin, John Galliano and Julien David, have all incorporated these pretty pastel colours in their SS15 collections.  We bet after looking at these creations, you can’t wait for spring too!

PicMonkey Collage Pink & Green

But we have a little surprise for you…

Our Méduse match the SS15 palette! Take a look at our Jumpy Vert d’eau/Crêpe, Jutam Paille and Nikita Saumon for some new season jelly ideas…

Come on spring!

Ballad of Jen’s Jellies

10 Mar , 2015

Collage Méduse Jelly shoes Pink Candy

Hi! I’m the Jen to my jellies, and this is the ballad to my Méduse.

I’m in the wonderful city of London. Beautiful sights. An adventure of senses. And with me on my journey, are my Méduse.

Blue- chosenedited blue-chosenedited2

As much as I love strolling around for a chilly walk, there’s nothing quite like running around in my summer SUN jellies, in the beautiful tropics. I’m always dreaming of exotic places – aren’t you too?! I can just feel the rush of the waves filling in the gaps of my Méduse jellies… that is summer.

But that’s one thing I like about London – the nature. Even though it’s a hustling and bustling city, there’s always a patch of green. The overgrown leaves remind me of palm trees and my deep blue Salsa Méduse are the perfect pair shoes to spark my memories of a dark blue sea…

pink chosen edited

pink chosenedited

If there’s a shoe that is going to put a spring in my step, it’s got to be my sweet, pink SUN jellies! Look how funky they are! They take me on a candy-filled journey, full of adventure and new surprises. When I wear these, all I want to do is search for the nearest sweet shop or patisserie and gorge on strawberry bon bons and pink icing! Mmm…

yellow chosen edited yellow chosenedited

And finally my sunny yellow SUN jellies – boy, do they stand our from the crowd! If you need a statement piece, or boost of energy, these jellies are definitely the ones to wear when you need a little POP! In the city of London, the colour yellow is used to alert and shine out from all other colours – something that my sunshine yellow jellies, fit perfectly into ;-).

So that’s my story and I want to know about yours! What Méduse do you wear in the city?
