Méduse Talks With… Samantha – Let’s travel around the world!

24 Jun , 2015

Meduse featured image - Samantha

At Méduse, we strive to seek out the underground talents who share our values. Every week, a new star…

‘I would definitely take your Méduse Jumpy boots travelling anywhere’

A fashion blogger, curious spirit and globe trekker – Samantha has it all! Coming from all the way down under (Australia), this cool cat came to our attention when we spotted her original sense of style. Not only is she up for the #MeduseColor challenge, she’s also game for our interview! Check it out…

M – So jelly lover, how would you introduce yourself in a few words?
S – My name is Samantha and I run my own Fashion/Travel Blog called Rapunzille. I’m Australian but I am always seeking my next adventure!
I use fashion as a way to express who I am and how I feel. I love to travel often to continuously throw myself into new situations. I find that it helps me grow as a person – especially my last trip to Canada for nearly 7 months!
I’m a Graphic Designer, so I’m infatuated with prints and colours! Which drew me to Méduse’s amazing collection of shoes! I associate colour with being happy and also the summertime! My two favourite things!

M – So we had a sneaky look at your blog (it’s too good!), and saw that you like to visit our beloved Paris! What makes you love the place so much? Is it the French culture? Fashion? Food? Or something else?
S – Oh my goodness! Paris is divine! The architecture makes me feel as though I’ve stepped into a fairytale. The fact that so many influential fashion designers are based in Paris makes me infatuated with the city! However, the food, the language and the lifestyle is far different than to what I’m used to! This excites me and makes me want to keep visiting Paris, and also explore the rest of France! At one point last year I was learning French, and I had so much fun doing it, but life got in the way. I do need to start practising again soon!

Meduse - Samantha2

M – Your snapshots are shot in beautiful settings, such as Canada! If you were to have a photoshoot in our Jumpy boots (our take on the Chelsea boots), where would you go?
S – Thanks! Canada was beautiful ! I’ve done sooooo much travelling (more countries to be added to the blog soon) that I’m finally back in Australia and appreciate the amazing natural wonders that I have in my own country! I would definitely take your Méduse Jumpy boots travelling anywhere, they are so versatile and really jazz up the average fashion boot! I would climb rocks on the beautiful sandy Australian beaches with my Jumpy boots and go on adventures in the Blue Mountains etc! I would also definitely pack them for my next trip to Europe!

M – And finally! You’ve just submitted a superb photo for #MeduseColor contest – well done! What was the inspiration behind your outfit? Do you like to mix and match colour?
S – Thank you ! The inspiration behind it actually was that I got that dress in a little shop in Nice, France. I thought it would be perfect to enter a dress I bought in France for the competition! The patterns remind me of the detail on the architecture in Europe! The patterns on the dress, mixed with the red colour and brown and white bag, create a casual summer look that mixes up colours in a fun vibrant way !

Well Samantha we hope you take us on your next trip! We can DEFINITELY fit in your suitcase… 😉 It’s been awesome chatting to you, thanks for the style tips and we’re always happy to meet jelly lovers from around the world! We wish you the best of luck for #MeduseColor! Take a look at Samantha’s inspiring Instagram and blog for tips on travel and fashion!

What about you guys? Where would you take your Jumpy boots if you were off on an adventure?

Méduse Talks With Grace – A creative mind in the sky…

17 Jun , 2015

Untitled design (1)

At Méduse, we strive to seek out the underground talents who share our values. Every week, a new star…

“I am a tiny Irish girl who does her very best to be a tiny bit French.”

Coming from all the way in Ireland, Grace is now a nurse based in London and boy, has she got that ‘London street style’ with a hint of Frenchness. (Just check out her London rooftop shoot in Méduse!) The mash up of owning the best of these two looks, is what keeps her ticking, and her snapshots speak for themself. With bundles of energy and unlimited creativity, Grace is a wise one!

M: So! Who are you jelly lover?
G: Hi! I’m Gracie I am a tiny Irish girl who does her very best to be a tiny bit French.

M: Tell us a bit more about your photoshoot in Méduses! What were the ideas behind the shots?
G: So we thought about the brand and the history of the shoe. I wanted to keep it simple and chic but also very true to my personal style! I teamed the meduse with a classic Breton strip top and navy silk shorts, basically what I live in during the (cold) British summer!

Meduse interview - Grace2

M: We’re in love with your Instagram – it shows such character from your personal life, to the idols you love. How does your Instagram reflect who you are and your loves in life?
G: I take my job extremely seriously however I really need to detach from it. I decided to use my Instagram as a medium to meet other creative minds. I’m honest and open and I think that comes across on my page.

M: As you’re a fashion expert, can you tell us what to wear with Méduse? 😉
G: Everything ! I will be wearing them for my surf holiday in Biarritz in July and as it cools down I will be wearing them with knee socks and an LBD around Shoreditch !

M: And one last thing! What 4 blogs do you recommend keeping an eye on?
G: Oh my god only 4 ?! Ok my really good friend Jess (we both worked as waitresses when I first moved to London) : @ihavethisthingfor .
I also love @eastlondonkiddo who takes beautiful photographs!
I adore this Irish beauty @thebubblecollective
This last girl has incredible style and is also Irish: @eimearvarianbarry

We told you so! Grace is a gal who’s tip-top on Instagram and she certainly knows a thing or two about what stars to keep an eye on! Sending you a huge jelly high-five Grace, we hope you loved standing on top of London’s skyline in our Méduse! Keep up to date with her musings and snapshots here.

Méduse Talks With… Mélanie

20 May , 2015

Melanie - featured image

At Méduse, we strive to seek out the underground talents who share our values. Every week, a new star…

“Méduses make my feet happy”

Floral prints, pastel tones and an eye for detail! Welcome to an intriguing world of a true Parisienne, make way for Mélanie…

M: So Mélanie! If your name appeared in a dictionary, what would it say?
MB:  The definition of my name could mean something like ‘to be romantic’. It means to recognise beauty, the sublime, bring special moments and enjoy the little things in life. For example, you why not buy flowers for yourself, frame a postcard, write with a special pen, experience new things, smile, taste new flavours, walk aimlessly, discover new places, and most of all – enjoy the moments.

M: We’re totally in love with your Instagram and your use of soft colours and patterns! What is your inspiration behind your photography?
MB: My inspiration mainly comes from images I find on Pinterest and from other Instagram profiles. I love to follow Jésus Sauvage and Local Milk in particular. I like pictures to feature small details which show a snapshot of everyday life. I like taking ordinary photos and I try to enhance them by showing a specific detail or snapping in a certain angle. I take loads of photos, to make sure I get the perfect photo and I notice that from each snapshot I take, my photos become better and the beauty becomes more alive. It’s a philosophy of life!

P1050624

M: Can you finish this sentence? ‘Jelly and…?
MB: The first thing that comes to mind is a small slogan “Méduses make my feet smile”. I think it’s a good translation of my state of mind when I decide to wear my pair of Méduses. I know my friends notice them –  first, they smile and then they’re reminded of their childhood. There is always a debate about jelly shoes and I like that. I have been complimented at the train station, in the supermarket and at uni! People are both nostalgic and happy to see Méduses are still on stage! I mainly wear them in Paris, and definitely not as a part of a fancy dress outfit! It’s a fashion accessory – they’re fun, quirky and eye-catching!

M: We know you’re a total jelly lover! So we have a challenge for you! Your mission is to create an outfit which is blinging and sparkling, to match with your glittery gold Méduse! Are you up for it? Send us a photo of your creation!
MB: Here are some photos I took this weekend showing my way of wearing Méduse!

P1050640

And the outfit is just like we imagined – hip, classic yet swanky! Thank you Mélanie for taking the time to share your story with us. Who’s up for flicking through Mélanie’s awesome Instagram? We are!

What about you? How would you complete this slogan? Méduse and…? Comment here!

Méduse Talks With… Méduse !!!

17 Apr , 2015

2

At Méduse, we strive to seek out the underground talents who share our values. Every week, a new star…

Come on! You have to admit it. The new Méduse collection for Spring / Summer 15 is pretty damn awesome ;-). We’re forever twirling in our sparkling Nikita and we dance and prance on the rooftops of Paris in our new colours of the season.

But our inspiration stems from the heroic geniuses backstage, and we decided to chat to the clever clogs about the spirit and thought process behind our current season!

Meduse - New Rainbow

Our new collection is filled with colours that enhance the styles at Méduse. What would be THE word to describe this collection?

CANDY : because of the pastel mix that makes us think of sugar almonds and candy! And most of all, the nostalgic “back to childhood” spirit of our SUN jellies!

The new SUNLIGHT are a sparkling inspiration 😉 ! Where would be the best spots to wear them ?

Ibiza at sunset to party all night long! And for the kiddos : perfect to play ghosts in the dark :-)

Meduse - Glow in the dark

The new Saumon and Vert d’eau colors are a perfect match with the pastel trend. Why did you pick these colours ?

We needed some sweet tastes for the summer. Pastel are soft and feminine colours, which introduce the Spring season, the softness of the morning dew and the pleasure of sweet moments.

The new magazine for the new collection in collaboration with Les Paulettes is featured with pictures on the rooftops of Paris. What is the inspiration behind these pictures ?

The rooftops of Paris are synonymous with escapism and city adventure! This is the place where you chill with a few drinks with your friends or have a romantic time with your lover. It is a way to escape from the bustling city when in reality you can’t. But this is what Méduse is about – a walking holiday in the city!

Meduse - SS15 catalogue

Et voila! Words of wisdom from our backstage team!

A huge THANKS to the designers of Méduse, for sharing their words and spirit with us! Keep it up! <3

Joy Blog Set Featured Image

At Méduse, we strive to seek out the underground talents who share our values. Every week, a new star…

When you search hard for something, and you find that piece of gold, it’s magic. So when we found creative busy-bee DearJoy. we were over the moon that we managed to have a chit-chat with her! What a result!

me2

What feature of your personality defines you as an original person?

I am a non conformist person. I am not a part of Panurge – if I do, I’m not in my zone and I’m not myself.

If you’re on the hunt for an outfit for a summer’s day, what things would you be looking for?

For summer, I would look for a new pair of sunglasses. Mine are not adapted to my eyesight anymore haha! In general, I like to go for dark brown sunglasses, never black.

bim

What superpower, do you wish you had?

I would say, the power to snap my fingers and get what I want.

What was the last thing, that made you laugh?

THIS VIDEO! HAHA!

CHALLENGE! We’re in love with your Pinterest, so we challenge you to create one moodboard of six images… about what Meduse evokes to you!

Méduse Talks… With Virginie Cappoen

27 Mar , 2015

NIKITA

At Méduse, we strive to seek out the underground talents who share our values. Every week,  a new star…

Since we spotted her artwork, we were dreaming about getting in touch with her… If you’re used to hanging out on our blog, you can’t have missed it – Virginie, is an exceptional artist, and she expresses her Méduse like a true artist, who is in her zone with a crayon or paint brush in hand.

A fan of our NIKITA, she told us a story about Méduse and she took us by the hand, through her playground. As she voices her words – everything comes to standstill.

VC - SUN Meduse VC - NIKITA GREEN Meduse

Where does your inspiration come from?
I try to grab inspiration from a lot of things. It could be an object, an image, an exhibition or a film! Childhood is an endless source of inspiration. Indeed, my favourite artists have a very childish style to them. It’s impossible to mention them all, but among them you can find Steinberg, Picasso, Twombly, Basquiat, Sottsass, Cocteau… I like art to be spontaneous, refined, clumsy, funny and not pretentious. And generally, I like fantasy, humour, romanticism and poetry!
Your work is defined through particular use of colours. How do you decide on the use of certain colours? Is it impulsive or do you think about it beforehand?

Adding colour within art is not an easy step. From time to time you can have unexpected outcomes, but I like to try a lot of different techniques: acrylic, watercolours, felt-tip pens, colouring pencils and pastels – which I like the most!
VC - NIKITA GREEN1 Meduse
We love your work on Méduse – of course 😉 ! How does the Méduse world inspire you?
I am a total fan of Méduse! I like the quirky side and the playfulness. Of course it reminds me of my childhood. They are really comfortable and you can have all the colours! I almost only wear them in the summer! I can’t live without them!
VC - NIKITA RED Meduse
If you had play-doh in your hands right now, what would you do with it?
I would try to create a Méduse collection!
What is your favourite Instagram filter for posting your picture?
All these filters are really cool, but I barely use them! I prefer to use no filter.
We have a challenge for you ! You drew Nikita and Sun Meduse. Could you make a drawing of Jumpy boots ?
BOOM !
VC - Jumpy RED Meduse VC - JUMPY spot Meduse
VC - JUMPY quirky Meduse VC - JUMPY b&W MEduse
And there you have it! Virginie is on Instagram, she’s a total inspiration for anyone who wants to get stuck in and get creative! Our Méduse inspire her – and surprise surprise – we are in love with her work.
Thanks Virginie! X
