MÉDUSE TALKS WITH… SLANELLE

20 Jan , 2016

Slanelle1

Last week, we met They Call Me Mellie, a fashion blogger who is kooky about tip-top brunchs!

This week, we interview Slanelle, a mega star in the fashion and lifestyle world. Here she joins us to talk about her universe and what passions rocks her world.

M – Hello Slanelle! You’re a blogger that has been around on the net for quite some time. What kinda topics do you cover on your blog, and what are your interests?
S – Hi! On my blog, I mainly post outfits of the day and from time to time, I talk about beauty, travel (I love travelling all around the world!), and music, because I can sing and I can play the guitar.

02

M – No need to tell us that you love travelling – we can already see this on your blog! So, what are your favourite destinations to visit?
S – My favourite destination is Oslo, which I visited in 2014. I spent 4 days there, but I simply fell in love with the city. The people are lovely, life is great and you always feel like you’re safe there. I also love Rome, I’ve been there twice. Italy is really charming! This year, I’m going to Tokyo! It’s a place I’ve been dreaming about since I was a teenager! I think I’m gonna love it!

03

M – We listened to your song covers, and we LOVE them! When did you start singing and why did you take up this hobby?
S – In fact, I’ve liked singing ever since I was a child. I always broke into a trending song in the charts. At 17, I took up the guitar and I began to sing only with the guitar. Sometimes I can’t sing very well, but I always enjoy it!

01

M – We have a little challenge for you?! Could you chose your favourite pair of Méduse shoes and propose us a styleboard to kick off your style scene for 2016?
S – I think I would chose the sea-green or salmon pink Nikita, and I’d pair them with a white dress, like this!

Slanelle Styleboard

Thanks a lot Slanelle for your answers! We cannot thank you enough for taking the time to join us! You’re a true star, and you know you can count on us to keep up to date with your world. You’d be silly to miss out on her blog – check out the style icon’s universe!

MÉDUSE TALKS WITH… THEY CALL ME MELLIE

13 Jan , 2016

Theycallmemelliefeatured
Last week in the hot seat was Margaux, Instagramer of Hopelessly Loving! This week we speak to high-flying fashion blogger Amelia, of ‘They Call Me Mellie’.
She knows what’s hot on the scene in NYC and she knows what’s hip-happening in Paris. Meet fashion blogger Amelia, a girl who has lived the American Dream and knows what a brunch spread should look like.

‘I love your Jumpleo boots, I find them so quirky and fun!’

2

M – Hello Mellie! You’re a fashion, lifestyle, travel and beauty blogger! Could you tell us a few words about yourself for those who don’t know you yet?
A – Hey Méduse, my name’s Amélia and I started my blog They Call Me Mellie this summer – a project I had in mind for a while. I was born in France but I grew up in Polynesia and in the USA, that’s why I have a Parisian style with an international touch. Travelling is part of me and my identity –  I’m passionate about anything from fashion, design, art and food – things which are a huge part of my travelling around the world. That’s my way of living – thriving on what’s around me!
4
M – San Francisco, Los Angeles… You’ve been living the American dream! What can you tell us about the fashion industry there? Are there any differences with French or European fashion?
A – Yes, I had the chance to live the American dream quite young. My mum is an ambitious woman and we moved there for her career. Styles are so different in USA! There aren’t many trends though. From a city to a state, styles change and so do the beauty standards. San Francisco’s fashion is modern, natural yet it has a hipster touch, whereas in LA, fashion standards are so different – far more about glamour and sexiness. In New York, styles are ever-changing and they are far closer to what we know in Europe, or at least in Paris. The Parisian style to me is the most sophisticated. I think what makes a difference in Paris is that women dress for themselves and for other women. In USA, I feel like a lot of women mostly dress for men.
1
M – Food time! You’re a brunch-addict and your pictures whet our appetite! So what’s the perfect brunch recipe?
A – I’m truly passionate about brunch, probably my American side again. To me, a moment for family and friends – growing up, my mum would invite my friends and their parents to our home for massive brunch. Surprisingly, I love to go for a brunch at restaurants, as I love to try new things and discover new flavours. A perfect brunch would be made a freshly squeezed orange juice or a fruit smoothie (kiwi, banana, strawberry), a latte, some savoury treats (omelette, scrambled, Eggs Benedict), some sweet treats (pancakes, waffles or French toast) and a small fruit salad. For a festive brunch, add a glass of champagne to celebrate!

3

M – As a professional fashionista, you have a true expertise in clothing that we are curious to challenge! Our new collection for rainy days has a range of styles, equestrian-chic, colourful and original patterns… Do have a favourite pair? Could you prepare a styleboard and tell us a few words about this style?
A – I have quite a preppy style – I love being elegant whilst remaining feminine. I love your Jumpleo boots, I find them so quirky and fun and I love the ‘animal’ print – plus they are not too showy! I’d add rolled up boyfriend jeans to show a bit of ankle, a leopard print handbag to match the chelsea boots and a kitty-cat hairband for fun!
05Well Amelia, with all your wise words, we want to jet-set around the world just like you! Thank you ever so much for joining us! We love your unique style and we can definitely learn a thing or two about accessorizing just like you! Keep up to date with her blog and Instagram.

Margaux is an instagram pro
Last year (yes, 2015 is gone!), we caught up with fashion and lifestyle blogger Parisienne Rose who loves nothing more than chic style and road trips. This week, we welcome Margaux, Instagramer of Hopelessly Loving.
She’s a lady who knows what to work in the winter season and she certainly knows how to cook some mean Nutella pancakes. Instagramer, Hopelessly Loving joins us today to share her ‘Nordic cocooning’ style and how to make Sunday mornings really special.

‘I’m wild about the Jumper boots with the glittery touch’

A pair of quirky socks! We. Love. It.

A pair of quirky socks! We. Love. It.

Méduse – Hopelessly.loving! We’re totally in love with your snapshots! Could you tell us in a few words about yourself? How did your Instagram journey begin?
Margaux – My name is Margaux, I’m 22 and I work in real estate. I’m addicted to shopping, snacking (luckily I don’t take ANY weight) and I’m passionate about animals. I’m the proud owner of a beagle and a cat. My Instagram journey started about 2 years ago. I created an account out of curiosity and at first I was a bit confused with the hashtags, but I quickly caught up and now I can’t get enough of it!
Outfit of the day!

Outfit of the day!

Méduse – Fashion time! In your opinion, what is the major trend for the autumn / winter season? Are there any particular tones that you’ll be rocking this season?
Margaux – I would say the biggest trend this year would have to be long coats. But that’s not for me as I’m pretty short but on other people, I love it! This winter, I’m all for a ‘Nordic cocooning’ mode. A puffa jacket, thick knitwear, UGG’s and I’m ready to face the cold!
Alpine outfit!

Alpine outfit!

Méduse – You’re all for a good breakfast! Do you have a secret recipe to help us face the morning chill this season?
Margaux – I do love massive breakfasts, and as I don’t have much free time during the week, I make sure to do it properly on Sundays: nutella pancakes (top secret recipe from my grandma haha), hot chocolate, freshly squeezed orange juice and there you go!
The perfect breakfast!

Méduse – We love your daily outfits, and so we have a challenge for you! Our new collection is out now – so you’re mission is to create a styleboard with your fave pair!
Margaux – I love your new collection! I’m wild about the Jumper, with the glittery touch – it’s an awesome detail. I’ve chosen to pair it with this outfit: it’s simple and comfy – I love it!

M – Hey there Marie! On your awe-inspiring Instagram, you show us snapshots of your daily life. Could you tell us a bit more about yourself, and how your journey on Instagram started?
MJ – Hi Team Méduse, thank you so much! My name is Marie, I’m 18, and I come from Montpellier in southern France. I got started with Instagram about 2 years ago, and at first, I was just posting landscapes, travel pictures etc… then came to me the idea of posting pictures about my everyday life and since then, it’s grown to be what it is today!
A breakfast full of vitamins!

The way to start the day.

M – With the chilly cold weather in the air, we’re wrapping up for the winter! What are your favourite styles for the season? Are there any tones you’ll be rocking?
MJ – In terms of winter fashion, I’m opting for warm wooly jumpers… I love them! As I’m a huge fan of skirts and shorts, I can’t live without them, so I’ll be teaming them up with tights. And as for tones I’ll be wearing this season, I’m loving grey, blue and burgundy.

M – You’re an athlete with bundles of energy! Do you have any tips and tricks to stay in shape this winter?
MJ – To stay in good shape this winter, the key word is motivation! It’s freezing outside and you’re gonna need an extra dose of it to go out for a run or hit the gym. The most important thing though is to have FUN and not push yourself!
An athletic Sunday for Marie

Out for a run… what a view!

Méduse talks with – Amazing, ambitious… Amélie!

8 Jul , 2015

set feature image blogger

At Méduse, we strive to seek out the underground talents who share our values. Every week, a new star…

‘ On Instagram (…) it is essential to share the things you like! ‘

This globe-trotting fashion hero joins us in this week’s interview! She’s got a zest for life, and she sure knows how to rock the world of Instagram. Have your pen and paper at the ready cause this gal reveals her tips on how to be a leader on social media, and how to be a summer-savvy fashionista!

amelie face
A – Can you introduce yourself in a few words?

A – My name is Amélie and I am 22 years old. I grew up in France-Comté, a French region near Switzerland. Cancoillotte and Montbéliard sausage – does it sound familiar? 😉 I moved to Paris one year ago with my boyfriend, to complete my sport licence degree – I just graduated recently ! I am passionate about fashion, photography, cooking, travel and all the beautiful things in life!

M – On your Instagram we see a stylist, a cook, a photographer… so much energy ! What’s your secret?

Amelie a le style !

amelie cuisine

Amelie prend des photos !

A – I’d say passion. I’ve been very passionate about photography for a long time now! I never leave home without my reflex camera or my smartphone, and I really enjoy sharing all the nice things I do or see everyday with my followers, my family and my friends. It all looks like travel, but it’s just my everyday life!
M – We also had a look at your blog, and there is no doubt at Méduse… we LOVE your style! According to you, what’s the best outfit to wear this summer?
A – Thanks a lot, that’s very touching! I’d say my ideal summer outfit would be a plain white dress, light, with a pair of flat sandals, sunglasses, a beige panama hat and a little fringe handbag. Something nice and simple for a chilled walk along the beach.
M – Challenge! Can you make up THE summer outfit with our sea-green Nikita jelly shoes?
A – Challenge accepted!amelie styleboard
M – You’ve posted more than 1,000 pictures and you’re followed by 6,000 followers on Instagram… To all the fashion bloggers – what’s your tip to rule on social media?
A – I’ve never thought about this before, but I guess what’s important is to be sincere with your followers. Showing who you really are. Sure it feels good to post beautiful, aesthetic photos, but above all, I think they should reflect yourself – this is pretty essential. The objective is to share the things you like!
Finally, you must be present. Have real interactions with your followers.
Thanks to Instagram, I’ve met beautiful characters, and when you have the chance to switch from the web to reality, it’s amazing. I hope you’ll meet great people too!
M – Last question! This summer, are you more: sunbather, globetrotter or nightclubber?
A – This summer, I’ll definitely be a globetrotter! I am planning a trip to the land of elks and maple syrup! My boyfriend and I will travel to Montréal for the whole month of August. We’re thinking about moving over there!

Well Amélie – we’re so JELLY that you’re jetting off to Canada, we wish we could come with you in your suitcase! Thanks so much for sharing your wise words with us! We sure will take on those tips to be a star on Instagram! 😉 Keep up to date with Amélie’s musings and moments on her Instagram and blog – she’s one to not miss out on!

See you next week!

Méduse Talks With Grace – A creative mind in the sky…

17 Jun , 2015

Untitled design (1)

At Méduse, we strive to seek out the underground talents who share our values. Every week, a new star…

“I am a tiny Irish girl who does her very best to be a tiny bit French.”

Coming from all the way in Ireland, Grace is now a nurse based in London and boy, has she got that ‘London street style’ with a hint of Frenchness. (Just check out her London rooftop shoot in Méduse!) The mash up of owning the best of these two looks, is what keeps her ticking, and her snapshots speak for themself. With bundles of energy and unlimited creativity, Grace is a wise one!

M: So! Who are you jelly lover?
G: Hi! I’m Gracie I am a tiny Irish girl who does her very best to be a tiny bit French.

M: Tell us a bit more about your photoshoot in Méduses! What were the ideas behind the shots?
G: So we thought about the brand and the history of the shoe. I wanted to keep it simple and chic but also very true to my personal style! I teamed the meduse with a classic Breton strip top and navy silk shorts, basically what I live in during the (cold) British summer!

Meduse interview - Grace2

M: We’re in love with your Instagram – it shows such character from your personal life, to the idols you love. How does your Instagram reflect who you are and your loves in life?
G: I take my job extremely seriously however I really need to detach from it. I decided to use my Instagram as a medium to meet other creative minds. I’m honest and open and I think that comes across on my page.

M: As you’re a fashion expert, can you tell us what to wear with Méduse? 😉
G: Everything ! I will be wearing them for my surf holiday in Biarritz in July and as it cools down I will be wearing them with knee socks and an LBD around Shoreditch !

M: And one last thing! What 4 blogs do you recommend keeping an eye on?
G: Oh my god only 4 ?! Ok my really good friend Jess (we both worked as waitresses when I first moved to London) : @ihavethisthingfor .
I also love @eastlondonkiddo who takes beautiful photographs!
I adore this Irish beauty @thebubblecollective
This last girl has incredible style and is also Irish: @eimearvarianbarry

We told you so! Grace is a gal who’s tip-top on Instagram and she certainly knows a thing or two about what stars to keep an eye on! Sending you a huge jelly high-five Grace, we hope you loved standing on top of London’s skyline in our Méduse! Keep up to date with her musings and snapshots here.

10 Jun , 2015

At Méduse, we strive to seek out the underground talents who share our values. Every week, a new star…

“My mum is very classy, she is a real French ‘Maman'”

She knows how to strike a pose and pull a funny face at the same time! Our prized winner of #MamanMeduse contest, Coralie, invites us into her and her ‘mamans’ wonderfully crazy world!

M: Woohoo! First we’d like to say congrats on being the winner of #MamanMeduse! Tell us, what was the inspiration behind the photo with you and your ‘maman’?
C – Well our family is a bit crazy and wild, but we like to stay happy no matter what! So, through this photo I hoped to make people smile but also to show off how we bounce off each other!

M: You and your ‘maman’ can now rock the ‘team jellies’ look! How will you and your ‘maman’ be planning to wear your Méduse together? Send us a picture!
Voilà

Coralie1

M: You are well and truly French, so can you describe how your ‘maman’ shows off her French traits? Is it her chic style, or something else?
C – Regarding her French traits, my mum is very classy – she is a real French ‘maman’. Why? Because she doesn’t care about what people think and she lives for herself and her family… and nothing is more beautiful than that!

P.S: She’s super modern when it comes to fashion and she often asks me for advice!

M: Many daughters and their ‘mamans’ like to hang out, whether it’d be for a shopping trip, or watching a chick-flick with a tub of Ben & Jerry’s! What do you two like to get up to, when you’re together?
C – We have so many mother/daughter rituals! The kiss and hug before going to bed. We help each other, we motivate each other and we love to bake in the evenings as well! And when it comes to shopping? Well that’s unavoidable haha!

Ooh! You and your ‘maman’ sure do put a smile on our face. Keep up the spirit! You fully deserved to be the winners of #MamanMeduse and we hope you both share your style tips with Méduse! Stay tuned to Coralie’s Instagram here!

What about you? What fun things do you and your ‘maman’ get up to? Comment here!

Méduse Talks With… Mélanie

20 May , 2015

Melanie - featured image

At Méduse, we strive to seek out the underground talents who share our values. Every week, a new star…

“Méduses make my feet happy”

Floral prints, pastel tones and an eye for detail! Welcome to an intriguing world of a true Parisienne, make way for Mélanie…

M: So Mélanie! If your name appeared in a dictionary, what would it say?
MB:  The definition of my name could mean something like ‘to be romantic’. It means to recognise beauty, the sublime, bring special moments and enjoy the little things in life. For example, you why not buy flowers for yourself, frame a postcard, write with a special pen, experience new things, smile, taste new flavours, walk aimlessly, discover new places, and most of all – enjoy the moments.

M: We’re totally in love with your Instagram and your use of soft colours and patterns! What is your inspiration behind your photography?
MB: My inspiration mainly comes from images I find on Pinterest and from other Instagram profiles. I love to follow Jésus Sauvage and Local Milk in particular. I like pictures to feature small details which show a snapshot of everyday life. I like taking ordinary photos and I try to enhance them by showing a specific detail or snapping in a certain angle. I take loads of photos, to make sure I get the perfect photo and I notice that from each snapshot I take, my photos become better and the beauty becomes more alive. It’s a philosophy of life!

P1050624

M: Can you finish this sentence? ‘Jelly and…?
MB: The first thing that comes to mind is a small slogan “Méduses make my feet smile”. I think it’s a good translation of my state of mind when I decide to wear my pair of Méduses. I know my friends notice them –  first, they smile and then they’re reminded of their childhood. There is always a debate about jelly shoes and I like that. I have been complimented at the train station, in the supermarket and at uni! People are both nostalgic and happy to see Méduses are still on stage! I mainly wear them in Paris, and definitely not as a part of a fancy dress outfit! It’s a fashion accessory – they’re fun, quirky and eye-catching!

M: We know you’re a total jelly lover! So we have a challenge for you! Your mission is to create an outfit which is blinging and sparkling, to match with your glittery gold Méduse! Are you up for it? Send us a photo of your creation!
MB: Here are some photos I took this weekend showing my way of wearing Méduse!

P1050640

And the outfit is just like we imagined – hip, classic yet swanky! Thank you Mélanie for taking the time to share your story with us. Who’s up for flicking through Mélanie’s awesome Instagram? We are!

What about you? How would you complete this slogan? Méduse and…? Comment here!
