Colour – it’s what makes our minds tick.
Discovered when the Egyptians found ‘lapis lazuli’, blue was seen as colour that was rich, royal and
regal. So what is the story of blue, from then to now?
– Around 2500BC, Egyptians experimented with inventing the world’s first artificial pigment,
the ‘Egyptian blue’ – hoorah! The world then followed suit…
– The industrial age was when the perception of the rich blue changed – ‘workaday woad’ was
a plant used to create blue fabric dye. Unfortunately it reeked (as it was made with manure)
and the colour was not as intense. Boo!
– But with the wave of modern manufacturing methods, blue pigments became cheaper. Cue
Picasso and his blue period from 1901…
– And from the 1950’s to present, blue has never been more alive. From Elvis’s Blue Suede
Shoes to the blue and black dress (or white and gold ha!), blue is in all areas of life.
How do you see blue? Rich and regal? Or, awesome and accessible?
Each week we cover a theme that is close to our jelly-hearts. We love to dig deep and write our thoughts on trends, fiction and culture in our diary here!
Now we know you’ve been keeping busy with hunting eggs, but now we’re doing our own little hunt, where you can come along too!
Our hunt doesn’t consist of chocolate eggs – oh no, we’ve already moved on from that – instead we’re on the look for some other bits and bobs after Easter, things that are as close to our hearts as chocolate – clothes, music, accessories – you get the gist.
And as we’re well versed in prowling for the latest fashion pieces, let us put on the pair of Méduse that will get us roaring and ready for our hunt. Of course it’s our leopard print Jumpy boots. RIGHT! Now that they’re on – let’s go!
We’re on the look for something that shouts Easter fashion! And there’s nothing more fitting than this awesome T-Shirt from Petit Bateau, designed by fashion best bunny, Fifi Lapin! IT’S SO CUTE!
We’re not gonna lie to you, we’re guilty of feeling hungry all the time. As soon as the fridge door shuts… it opens again (woops…) so we’ve found the perfect little lunch bag, to stock away our pots of jelly and carrots (come join us Fifi Lapin!) Check out this wild Safari Park lunch bag from Paperchase!
And you know us by now – we search high and low, for the best upcoming talents around the world. And we found something very special, from our homeland of France (quelle surprise)! Electro-musician Sayacet aka Pierre Lefeuvre is a man who we can’t stop listening to. His latest song ‘Mirages’ is an overload of ear candy (it’s Easter after all). Think M83 with a twist!
We’ve found all the things we’ve been looking for, and well, we’re very happy! *smiles smugly*
We hope you enjoyed the hunt!

Us Frenchies – we really do know how to make an awesome tune.
I mean, let’s look at just a few of our great legends – Edith Piaf, Françoise Hardy and Daft Punk. And you know what? Today – we’re still singing in tune 😉
We know everyone’s familiar with artists like David Guetta and Justice, but that’s not all there is to our musique. We’ve been playing along to many musical movements for years, from the modern chanson in the swinging 60’s to the nu-wave 80’s and now more recently the electro-poptastic scene.
French music gives you the best of both worlds – our music is set to fit any mood. Think about it – we’re all for deep, poetic and meaningful lyrics, but at the same time, we can’t get enough of pumping the music out loud and busting some moves on the dancefloor!
So guys, enough talking – join us in toe-tapping in your Méduse, to our Best of French playlist!
Et voilà !
You know how much we love spotting the hottest, upcoming talents from around the world! And today, you’re going to love what we have in store…
We’ve searched high and low and heard the most amazing sounds, but here we are – bringing you the most exciting bands and artists to look out for in 2015!
French Cuban duo Ibeyi and pounding electro Swedish pop trio Kate Boy are just some of the rising stars who will be dominating the music scene next year.
So here’s to 2015 – AWESOME MUSIC. AWESOME SOUNDS.
We felt inspired, it’s Christmas after all! Just one look at our chestnut coloured JUMPY boots got us
in the mood for, well, ‘chestnuts roasting on an open fire’.
It’s been a busy year and we’ve got lots of exciting things lined up for 2015. Get ready for Who’s
Next in January, our new S/S ’15 campaign release and much more!
But before all that excitement…we’re thinking of coming in from the cold, kicking off our Méduse
and putting on some Nat King Cole and Bing Crosby to really put us in the mood.
Candles lit. Fluffy hat? Of course. Crackling vinyl – playing. Marron / Noir Jumpy boots waiting to be
taken out for a walk tomorrow? Certainly.
What about you?
You either love them or hate them – of course, we’re talking about Christmas songs. Many of us like to sing ‘Jingle Bells’ at the top of our lungs and invite everyone into the festive spirit. But some like to resort indoors with a fine bottle of port, watching GREAT (terrible) TV and ignore all doorbell rings from Christmas carolers.
We’re not taking sides, because we know that cheesy Christmas songs are overplayed and over-annoying… even though we do secretly love them, BUT SHH! Thus we’ve made a festive Méduse music playlist which will definitely make you feel Christmassy WITHOUT the cheese.
Red + music = Salsa? Head-bangers? Oooh Luther Vandross?
When we think of the colour red in relation to music, we don’t know where to start. Not only does it make us want to punch the air whilst miming to a passionate power ballad, it also makes us want to kick, stomp and jump around in our fiery red jellies… until we’re really out of breath.
So check out our Red Hot Playlist with some rouge tracks from around the world. We’re talking sizzling salsa songs by Kings of Salsa and rockin’ red tunes from Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Kings of Leon. Kapow!
