Méduse talks with… KADI LV

25 May , 2016

160428_KADI-LV-POST_02

Say hello to Kadi, a Parisian Art Director, who is fascinated by Korean fashion and the digital world. Make room for our creative dreamer…

M: Hey there Kadi! We’re pleased to have you in the hot-seat! So we’ll give the mic to you! Tell us more about yourself!
K: Hi everyone, my name is Kadi! I am a Parisian 26 year old, crazy about digital and fashion. As a career, I am an Digital Art Director in an agency. In my personal life, I have a fashion blog, Kadi LV, which I created over a year ago. I made it after one of my friends told me to do so, and I don’t regret it in the slightest! I love writing articles, especially about my outfits, inspired by Korean fashion.

M: As you’re an Art director, you must have plenty of cool creative things to keep you busy. Can you tell us more about the projects you work on? Have you always had an artistic mind?
K: In general, I work on website creation for ad campaigns, mobiles and web apps. I also make visuals for specific brands on social networks (mostly on Facebook and Instagram).
Concerning the projects, there are a lot in agencies! My favourite brands that I’ve been working for are Puma and Sony, in partnership with Spotify. It’s a real pleasure because they have a real visual universe which is awesome!
Regarding creation, I have studied art but I always liked painting and drawing (even writing novels) when I was younger. I would say that I have an artistic mind. Nevertheless, digital creation requires a lot of technical skills, which I acquired with different formations.

M: Of course, you’re a fashionista, just like us! What are the trends and styles you’ll be sporting this spring?
K: With great weather just around the corner, open air festivals are on their way (for example Coachella, which just ended). Thus, light blouses, white or with coloured floral patterns are a must have for this spring. Also, casual boho dresses paired with a denim jacket for the day, and with a leather jacket for the night. The good weather gives us the perfect opportunity to wear sandals or ballerinas :-).

M: We have a little fashion challenge for you, and we’re sure you’re gonna ace it. Could you pair one of our summer shoes with a few clothes and accessories you have your eye on?
K: This was a tricky one for me, but my favourite pair is the Capri model in silver. I love the criss-cross design and I think it can fit with a lot of different outfits, for day or night! I have paired it with this gorgeous Oasis dress, a Nasty Gal leather jacket, a Kenzo Kalifornia bag, Quay sunglasses and for a little touch of Korean fashion, a necklace and a bracelet from Kitsch Island.

M: We’re loving the monochrome! Thanks for your fashion inspo, Kadi! Cheers for the chat! Until next time…

Méduse Talks… With Lauren de Samonac

5 Aug , 2015

Lauren bloggeuse

At Méduse, we strive to seek out the underground talents who share our values. Every week, a new star…

‘I actually have a ‘Jelly Fish’ tattoo on my ankles – it just shows that Méduse will live with me forever.’

She’s a sassy entrepreneur with a keen eye for fashion! She loves mixing retro styles with the fashion of the now, and she can’t help but bounce, skip and prance in her Méduse! We speak to Lauren, a blogger and proud owner of a vintage e-store. Et voila!

M – First things first! We’ve seen you sporting our straw-coloured Méduse and we’re intrigued to know more about you! So tell us, who are you Lauren or Loraine? 😉

L – Lauren Samonac is a very long name meaning a lot of things… My name is actually Loraine but Lauren is much quicker to spell 😉 ! I am the daughter of a village shopkeeper and I always learned to deal with myself, as my ten fingers led me to be the independent person I am today. My mum was always busy, doing tons of things other than shopping; my mum wasn’t a fashionista but a talented entrepreneur. As I’m a kinesthetic learner, my education took an artistic turn – I built up my professional experience in the world of show business as an actress, a light and sound technician and a stage decorator! Some wonderful experiences which led me to try my luck as an entrepreneur today.

M – We’ve noticed that not only do you run a personal blog, but you’re also a part of a second-hand / vintage project! Could you tell us a bit more about Duffledud? How does this project have an effect on your own personal style?

L – Duffledud was born in 2012 and allowed me to share my love of bargain-hunting and wearing fashion pieces mixed with cool vintage bits! It’s a way for me to feel like a kid: like being my own person, showing off my own style – that’s what fashion should be about! But Duffledud is slowly coming to an end unfortunately… Because of the big retail industry competition and their low prices, my e-shop is going through a rough patch, despite holding on to budget prices and ‘little-old-me’ trying to keep it up, until the big CRACK! It’s so much easier to buy a basic pink blouse that everyone has, than buy a pink blouse with a little character :-/. This has been a rich experience; from seeing my blog blossom, I decided to focus my energy on building a new project (still secret) to keep going!

M – You shared a lovely story with us where you mention how our Méduse were a part of your childhood! What place do our jellies have in your life today?

L – Méduses ?? Definitely my childhood !!! As my parents were working a lot, we didn’t go on holiday much, but when we did, we went to the seaside! I’m very sensitive on the feet as my father used to tickle me to wake me up! I never really liked the burning heat of the sand and I really didn’t like the idea of knowing that my feet could walk on something strange, like a hook! (true story!). Fed-up with my complaints, my mother bought me my first pair of Méduses when I was 6 and they were navy blue. Then, when I was about 8, I got a transparent pair, and I felt like I was wearing dolly shoes – so practical as there are no laces!  Moreover, the idea of being able to set foot in the water without risking anything is just great! Even though I’m 28, my habits have not changed and I am pleased that I’ve been able to find a pair of Méduses because they are so useful, they have a nostalgic touch, and not many people dare to wear them yet, but they are missing out on this true fashion accessory! I like the origin and the history – it is a French product, with a unique style for both men, women, youngsters and oldies – it’s even worn by fashionistas around the world! As they say: ‘never two without three’, my third pair of SUN Paille are well into my ‘shoesing’ and this time, I’m sure my feet won’t grow anymore ;-).

lauren jellies

M – And now for your challenge! We challenge you to create a styleboard inspired by your Paille SUN Méduse! Are you up for it? 😉

L – I’m taking up your challenge! It is a great honour for me to highlight my pair of Méduse! It’s if my story with Méduse was written in the stars… I actually have a ‘Jelly Fish’ tattoo on my ankles – it just shows that Méduse will live with me forever.

Attachment-1

Lauren – we love you. You’re officially the coolest cat around! Having Méduse tattooed shows you’re a true jelly lover, and we won’t forget that! Thanks for sharing your stories and style tips with us! It just goes to show that we too love mixing vintage styles with hip-happening fashion – YOU GOT IT! Keep up to date with Lauren’s blog and her retro store DuffleDud!

Méduse Talks… With Coralie

10 Jun , 2015

Coralie featured image

At Méduse, we strive to seek out the underground talents who share our values. Every week, a new star…

“My mum is very classy, she is a real French ‘Maman'”

She knows how to strike a pose and pull a funny face at the same time! Our prized winner of #MamanMeduse contest, Coralie, invites us into her and her ‘mamans’ wonderfully crazy world!

M: Woohoo! First we’d like to say congrats on being the winner of #MamanMeduse! Tell us, what was the inspiration behind the photo with you and your ‘maman’?
C – Well our family is a bit crazy and wild, but we like to stay happy no matter what! So, through this photo I hoped to make people smile but also to show off how we bounce off each other!

M: You and your ‘maman’ can now rock the ‘team jellies’ look! How will you and your ‘maman’ be planning to wear your Méduse together? Send us a picture!
Voilà

Coralie1

M: You are well and truly French, so can you describe how your ‘maman’ shows off her French traits? Is it her chic style, or something else?
C – Regarding her French traits, my mum is very classy – she is a real French ‘maman’. Why? Because she doesn’t care about what people think and she lives for herself and her family… and nothing is more beautiful than that!

P.S: She’s super modern when it comes to fashion and she often asks me for advice!

M: Many daughters and their ‘mamans’ like to hang out, whether it’d be for a shopping trip, or watching a chick-flick with a tub of Ben & Jerry’s! What do you two like to get up to, when you’re together?
C – We have so many mother/daughter rituals! The kiss and hug before going to bed. We help each other, we motivate each other and we love to bake in the evenings as well! And when it comes to shopping? Well that’s unavoidable haha!

Ooh! You and your ‘maman’ sure do put a smile on our face. Keep up the spirit! You fully deserved to be the winners of #MamanMeduse and we hope you both share your style tips with Méduse! Stay tuned to Coralie’s Instagram here!

What about you? What fun things do you and your ‘maman’ get up to? Comment here!

“What I truly love and live for is fashion”

She is a fashion lover and a fierce and fabulous character! Steph from Singapore, brings with her style tips and a creative eye! Check it out!

M: Who are you Jelly lover?
S:  I’m Steph and I haul from Singapore! By day I’m a digital marketer, by night I’m a dancer; specialising the style of Waacking.
But what I truly love and live for is fashion! I love experimenting with styling. Currently I’m running a mini project called “365 ootd” where I aim to wear 365 different outfits! So that takes my creativity and innovation in styling to a new level. You can check them out by searching the tag #mianbaoootd. Through this mini project I hope to inspire more people to be creative with styling. You don’t have to buy new clothes all the time you know. :-)

M: CHALLENGE! We saw your blog article on tropical prints for this season ;-). Can you combine our SUN jellies and tropical print in a styleboard?!
 S – White-based tropical printed romper
    –  Yellow Méduse jelly sandals
    – Yellow bandana hairband

    – Navy nautical beach bag.
Steph - Styleboard

M: Name 3 things on your Bucket List.
S: 1) To explore the Amazon
     2) Go to Paris / Milan fashion week
     3) To attend either a Saint Laurent / Dior show.

M: Do you prefer to live by day or by night? Why?
S: Day of course! I love exploring places and I think that’s best done in the day isn’t it? (haha)
But I love the sunshine, even though I hate getting tanned and I feel the day is so much more vibrant!

So…we have an amazing styleboard, some top fashion tips and a must see Instagram profile ! Her blog and Twitter are pretty awesome too 😉

Méduse Talks With… Mélanie

20 May , 2015

Melanie - featured image

At Méduse, we strive to seek out the underground talents who share our values. Every week, a new star…

“Méduses make my feet happy”

Floral prints, pastel tones and an eye for detail! Welcome to an intriguing world of a true Parisienne, make way for Mélanie…

M: So Mélanie! If your name appeared in a dictionary, what would it say?
MB:  The definition of my name could mean something like ‘to be romantic’. It means to recognise beauty, the sublime, bring special moments and enjoy the little things in life. For example, you why not buy flowers for yourself, frame a postcard, write with a special pen, experience new things, smile, taste new flavours, walk aimlessly, discover new places, and most of all – enjoy the moments.

M: We’re totally in love with your Instagram and your use of soft colours and patterns! What is your inspiration behind your photography?
MB: My inspiration mainly comes from images I find on Pinterest and from other Instagram profiles. I love to follow Jésus Sauvage and Local Milk in particular. I like pictures to feature small details which show a snapshot of everyday life. I like taking ordinary photos and I try to enhance them by showing a specific detail or snapping in a certain angle. I take loads of photos, to make sure I get the perfect photo and I notice that from each snapshot I take, my photos become better and the beauty becomes more alive. It’s a philosophy of life!

P1050624

M: Can you finish this sentence? ‘Jelly and…?
MB: The first thing that comes to mind is a small slogan “Méduses make my feet smile”. I think it’s a good translation of my state of mind when I decide to wear my pair of Méduses. I know my friends notice them –  first, they smile and then they’re reminded of their childhood. There is always a debate about jelly shoes and I like that. I have been complimented at the train station, in the supermarket and at uni! People are both nostalgic and happy to see Méduses are still on stage! I mainly wear them in Paris, and definitely not as a part of a fancy dress outfit! It’s a fashion accessory – they’re fun, quirky and eye-catching!

M: We know you’re a total jelly lover! So we have a challenge for you! Your mission is to create an outfit which is blinging and sparkling, to match with your glittery gold Méduse! Are you up for it? Send us a photo of your creation!
MB: Here are some photos I took this weekend showing my way of wearing Méduse!

P1050640

And the outfit is just like we imagined – hip, classic yet swanky! Thank you Mélanie for taking the time to share your story with us. Who’s up for flicking through Mélanie’s awesome Instagram? We are!

What about you? How would you complete this slogan? Méduse and…? Comment here!
