M: Howdy Jennifer! Hope you’re dandy! Our notebook is at the ready – so, tell us a bit more about yourself.

J : Hey hey! I’m Jennifer, I’m 25 and I live in La Rochelle in France. I’m a real girly girl, so my universe and photography really echo that – just take a look at my Instagram and you’ll see for yourself! I have a wide range of loves, come along and discover it!

M: We’ve spotted on your Instagram that you love to scribble and write. What kind of things do you like to write about? Any inspirations?

J: Indeed! I My writing varies from writing personal reviews about beauty and makeup, or it can be about my personal life and what I’m up to. I find my inspiration from many places – iconic bloggers and books that I enjoy.

M: We think you know by now that we’re in love with your Instagram! How do you prepare your posts? Do you have any tips for posting gorgeous snapshots?

J : Thanks very much!
What I would say to girls and guys is that they should post what they really like and stay true to themselves. Perhaps it’s a particular theme or a certain tone of colours. To be honest, most of my photos are taken in the moment. For others, I try to set up a setting / stage. Nevertheless, it always keeps in tone with my whole feed. I think people can feel it and that’s why they like it.

M: We have a little challenge for you! We dare you to pick your fave pair of Méduse from our collection and mix and match with some fashion pieces that you love. Good luck!

J: Okay! So I’ve picked a simple but chic outfit with JUMPMAT boots, perfect for spring. I’ve paired them with skinny jeans (which I wear a lot) with a floaty blouse and a long camel blazer. Match that with mirror glasses and a classic black  handbag, and you’re good to go!

M – So not only did you guys get an outfit for spring, you also got top tips for a pretty Instagram. What more could you want?! Thanks for speaking to us Jennifer! Until next time…

Méduse talks with… Emma’s Looking Glass

25 Nov , 2015

Interview Emma's Looking glass
Last time, we got close with fashion & beauty pro Les idées SoAddict, this week it’s all about Emma’s Looking Glass.

Through chronic illness, Emma decided to set up a blog, so that she had a platform to share her passions, including details of her own style, tasty treats, intricate illustrations and more with the world.

“For Autumn I love mustard yellows, sage green and burgundy colours, it makes me happy to see them on trend this year.”

M – Emma! So we’ve spotted that not only are you a fashion & lifestyle blogger, but you’re also an artist, photographer – and cat lover! Could you tell us a bit more about yourself, your projects and your blog?
E – I’ve always been really creative and I trained at the London college of fashion back in 2009 before becoming chronically ill. I have two long term illnesses, ME/CFS and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, both have had a dramatic effect on all aspects of my life. It was hard to come to terms with a much slower pace of life at such a young age and left me feeling like I had lost my identity. I wasn’t really aware of blogging until my friend from uni suggested I started a blog, I always enjoyed modelling her creations when we were studying, so the idea of sharing my outfits seemed like a fun idea. A few years on and I don’t know where I would be without my own creative space online, Emma’s Looking Glass has really helped me to engaged with the outside world as well as allowing me to be creative when my body allows it. It’s also helped me maintain and improve my photography skills. I hope one day to be well enough to own an online shop to sell my own illustrations and photography prints. That’s the dream! But for now I focus my energy on smaller projects, earlier this year I created 8 personalised illustrations which I sold with all profits going towards a fund raiser for ME Research Uk, I also dressed up as a princess for a day – which I blogged as an outfit and was a lot of fun too! Both projects combined raised £1189.04 for charity which I’m very proud of.

M – We’ve noticed you’re flaunting many floral prints, yet you’re loving autumn on your Instagram! What styles will you be wearing this season? Are there any particular shades that you think fit the season?
E – I do love a good floral print but sometimes I just want to step away from them, on those days I pick stripes. I have at least 10 striped tops. I think it’s becoming a bit of an issue! For Autumn I love mustard yellows, sage green and burgundy colours, it makes me happy to see them on trend this year.

M – You’re a foodie with many quirky recipes in stock! Which treats are you addicted to at the moment?
E – I have a really sweet tooth, I’d be happy to eat cake everyday, all day if I could. I also love salt and a silver lining of having Chronic illnesses is that my cardiologist recommends lots of salt! At the moment I’ve been enjoying some amazing homemade sea salted fudge that my best friend bought back for me from a trip to Cornwall a few weeks ago. It’s a great treat that I can’t leave alone!

M – Challenge time! With autumn well and truly here, our Jumpy boots are hot on the scene. Thus we challenge you to mock up a styleboard using a pair from our Jumpy boot collection! How would you pair it with accessories and clothes? Up for the challenge? 😉
E – I loved picking out an outfit for this challenge! I’m currently obsessed with this Mod Dolly acorn shirt and I think pinafore dresses are so sweet and versatile this time of year.  I’ve picked out the tan buckle detailing to the Méduse boots and used that as a base colour for the coat and bag which I think would tie the look in nicely. I hope you like it!

Thank you so much for your time Emma, we agree that dressing as a princess for the day should be a standard! Keep in touch with Emma’s crafts, recipes and outfits on her blog & amazing Instagram!

Méduse Talks With… Mélanie

20 May , 2015

Melanie - featured image

At Méduse, we strive to seek out the underground talents who share our values. Every week, a new star…

“Méduses make my feet happy”

Floral prints, pastel tones and an eye for detail! Welcome to an intriguing world of a true Parisienne, make way for Mélanie…

M: So Mélanie! If your name appeared in a dictionary, what would it say?
MB:  The definition of my name could mean something like ‘to be romantic’. It means to recognise beauty, the sublime, bring special moments and enjoy the little things in life. For example, you why not buy flowers for yourself, frame a postcard, write with a special pen, experience new things, smile, taste new flavours, walk aimlessly, discover new places, and most of all – enjoy the moments.

M: We’re totally in love with your Instagram and your use of soft colours and patterns! What is your inspiration behind your photography?
MB: My inspiration mainly comes from images I find on Pinterest and from other Instagram profiles. I love to follow Jésus Sauvage and Local Milk in particular. I like pictures to feature small details which show a snapshot of everyday life. I like taking ordinary photos and I try to enhance them by showing a specific detail or snapping in a certain angle. I take loads of photos, to make sure I get the perfect photo and I notice that from each snapshot I take, my photos become better and the beauty becomes more alive. It’s a philosophy of life!

M: Can you finish this sentence? ‘Jelly and…?
MB: The first thing that comes to mind is a small slogan “Méduses make my feet smile”. I think it’s a good translation of my state of mind when I decide to wear my pair of Méduses. I know my friends notice them –  first, they smile and then they’re reminded of their childhood. There is always a debate about jelly shoes and I like that. I have been complimented at the train station, in the supermarket and at uni! People are both nostalgic and happy to see Méduses are still on stage! I mainly wear them in Paris, and definitely not as a part of a fancy dress outfit! It’s a fashion accessory – they’re fun, quirky and eye-catching!

M: We know you’re a total jelly lover! So we have a challenge for you! Your mission is to create an outfit which is blinging and sparkling, to match with your glittery gold Méduse! Are you up for it? Send us a photo of your creation!
MB: Here are some photos I took this weekend showing my way of wearing Méduse!

P1050640

And the outfit is just like we imagined – hip, classic yet swanky! Thank you Mélanie for taking the time to share your story with us. Who’s up for flicking through Mélanie’s awesome Instagram? We are!

What about you? How would you complete this slogan? Méduse and…? Comment here!

Ballad of Jen’s Jellies

10 Mar , 2015

Collage Méduse Jelly shoes Pink Candy

Hi! I’m the Jen to my jellies, and this is the ballad to my Méduse.

I’m in the wonderful city of London. Beautiful sights. An adventure of senses. And with me on my journey, are my Méduse.

Blue- chosenedited blue-chosenedited2

As much as I love strolling around for a chilly walk, there’s nothing quite like running around in my summer SUN jellies, in the beautiful tropics. I’m always dreaming of exotic places – aren’t you too?! I can just feel the rush of the waves filling in the gaps of my Méduse jellies… that is summer.

But that’s one thing I like about London – the nature. Even though it’s a hustling and bustling city, there’s always a patch of green. The overgrown leaves remind me of palm trees and my deep blue Salsa Méduse are the perfect pair shoes to spark my memories of a dark blue sea…

If there’s a shoe that is going to put a spring in my step, it’s got to be my sweet, pink SUN jellies! Look how funky they are! They take me on a candy-filled journey, full of adventure and new surprises. When I wear these, all I want to do is search for the nearest sweet shop or patisserie and gorge on strawberry bon bons and pink icing! Mmm…

And finally my sunny yellow SUN jellies – boy, do they stand our from the crowd! If you need a statement piece, or boost of energy, these jellies are definitely the ones to wear when you need a little POP! In the city of London, the colour yellow is used to alert and shine out from all other colours – something that my sunshine yellow jellies, fit perfectly into ;-).

So that’s my story and I want to know about yours! What Méduse do you wear in the city?
