Méduse talks with… Garazi Beloki

7 Oct , 2015

interview garazi beloki
Last week we caught up with fashionista and jet-setter Marion of Brèves au Féminin, but this week we chat to actress and dancer Garazi Beloki!
If she’s not in the studio working away on her acting and dancing, find her at the beach in her Méduse! Garazi Beloki shares her words on how to style up for the season and what tunes put her in a good mood!
M – Garazi! Not only are you a model, but you’re also an actress and a dancer! Tell us a bit more about each one! Did you dive into all them at the same time?
G – Actually I’m a dancer and an actress! 5 years ago I studied musical comedies but I’ve been dancing since I was 6. As you’ve seen, I have some modelling shots because I needed some photos to promote myself for acting and advertising roles. It’s tricky to keep on top of it all, but I’ve learnt how to prioritise work – I need a social life too!

M – We’ve noticed on your Instagram that you flaunt many fashion styles, from boho-chic to loud pop art prints! Is there a particular theme you’ll be rocking this Autumn?
G – I adapt my clothes, depending on the mood I’m in, or what I’m planning for the day. I don’t like to define my style but I am very picky when it comes to shopping. For example, I love prints which catch attention, so my focus is on colour coordination. I usually wear a lot of skirts and dresses, and since I bought my first pair of Méduse, they style together perfectly!

M – What are your three favourite songs at the moment which ALWAYS put you in a good mood?
G – I really like funky beats which make me want to dance! For example, I listen to a lot of Kool and the Gang, Earth, Wind & Fire, Creedence and The Black Keys. But the song which really makes me want to dance is Ladies Night, by Kool and the Gang – I recommend it! You won’t be able to stop dancing!

M – We have a challenge for you, Garazi! We saw you working our sea-green NIKITA, but now that the sun is hiding away and the clouds are with us, it’s time to get stuck into our new collection! We challenge you to design a styleboard with some hot pieces of fashion and your favourite pair of Méduse boots! Are you up for it? 😉
G – Sounds like a good challenge to me!

Méduse: CAMARO Rouge

Chicwish: Denim Skirt

Topshop: Jumper

Polyvore: Hat

We’ll be keeping those autumnal colours in mind! A huge thank you to Garazi who joined us in the hot seat! Keep up to date with Garazi’s style, musings and footsteps on her Instagram. Until next time, folks!

Méduse talks with… Brèves au féminin

30 Sep , 2015

interview of french blogger breves au feminin V2
Last week we brought you an interview with fashionista Adeline, blogger of ‘Le Laboratoire Des Modes’! And this week, you’ve tuned into a quirky Q&A with Marion, Brèves au féminin!
Marion is a funky fashionista, with a lot to say! From her jet-setting travels, to her younger days with Méduse, Marion shares her special moments from the past to the present!

“When I was young and living by the seaside, I used to spend my afternoons rocking glitter Méduses!”

Countryside style

M – Brèves au féminin… What’s the story behind this lovely name?
B – When I started my blog in September 2014, deciding on a name wasn’t easy. I wanted something original, French and not too restrictive or I wouldn’t be able to talk about a wide range of topics. It’s my mum who actually had the idea « Brèves au Féminin », and I think it fits the blog’s spirit: a place where we can speak about anything – but with a focus on fashion and beauty.

Tunisian look

M – You’re a true jet-setter! What’s your favourite destination  you’ve visited?
B – Since I was a kid, I’ve been a globetrotter. I had the chance to discover many places, in France and abroad. I loved New York so much, but my best memory is a family road trip to Scotland. We went all over the country with our old Jaguar, visited several museums on the Scottish culture (kilts, whisky distilleries, Loch Ness…), discovered breath-taking landscapes in the Highlands, went to Edinburgh, Glasgow and we even slept in a “haunted” castle! I could spend hours telling you about our journey! If you have the chance to visit Scotland one day, go for it!

Clothes for Autumn and Winter

M – You’re now living in Nantes, next to where Méduse is from! What could you tell us about Nantes and fashion?
B – Nantes is such a dynamic city! There is always something to do (events, exhibition, festivals…). The city centre is populated with shops, both big names and independent designers. There’s plenty, for any taste and any style. And being (too much of) a shopaholic, is totally fine by me…

Summer style

M – We have a challenge for you! The new collection is out now! So we challenge you to create a styleboard with your fave pair!
B – When I was young and living by the seaside, I used to spend my afternoons rocking glitter Méduses! No surprise that I’m all about the shimmering one: the « JUMPAIL ». I also, really love the JUMPAT, JUMPMAT and JUMPER they’re all boots that I could definitely welcome to my shoe collection. For my look, I’m picking simple items that can be accessorized with some eccentric pieces, to bring an original touch to the style. With these cute glittery boots, I’ve chosen a marine blue autumn dress, a burgundy hat and a matching bag. To make the outfit stand out even more, I’ve chosen a slightly oversized black coat and a pair of tights. It’s a seasonal style, that I could totally wear, even on rainy days… and with my feet dry! 😉

Lookboard boots méduse

Et voila! Thank you Marion for sharing a few words with us! We have to say – we’re now in the mood for shopping! Catch up with Marion’s latest happenings in fashion, lifestyle and travels on her blog Brèves au féminin!

Méduse Talks… With Lauren de Samonac

5 Aug , 2015

Lauren bloggeuse

At Méduse, we strive to seek out the underground talents who share our values. Every week, a new star…

‘I actually have a ‘Jelly Fish’ tattoo on my ankles – it just shows that Méduse will live with me forever.’

She’s a sassy entrepreneur with a keen eye for fashion! She loves mixing retro styles with the fashion of the now, and she can’t help but bounce, skip and prance in her Méduse! We speak to Lauren, a blogger and proud owner of a vintage e-store. Et voila!

M – First things first! We’ve seen you sporting our straw-coloured Méduse and we’re intrigued to know more about you! So tell us, who are you Lauren or Loraine? 😉

L – Lauren Samonac is a very long name meaning a lot of things… My name is actually Loraine but Lauren is much quicker to spell 😉 ! I am the daughter of a village shopkeeper and I always learned to deal with myself, as my ten fingers led me to be the independent person I am today. My mum was always busy, doing tons of things other than shopping; my mum wasn’t a fashionista but a talented entrepreneur. As I’m a kinesthetic learner, my education took an artistic turn – I built up my professional experience in the world of show business as an actress, a light and sound technician and a stage decorator! Some wonderful experiences which led me to try my luck as an entrepreneur today.

M – We’ve noticed that not only do you run a personal blog, but you’re also a part of a second-hand / vintage project! Could you tell us a bit more about Duffledud? How does this project have an effect on your own personal style?

L – Duffledud was born in 2012 and allowed me to share my love of bargain-hunting and wearing fashion pieces mixed with cool vintage bits! It’s a way for me to feel like a kid: like being my own person, showing off my own style – that’s what fashion should be about! But Duffledud is slowly coming to an end unfortunately… Because of the big retail industry competition and their low prices, my e-shop is going through a rough patch, despite holding on to budget prices and ‘little-old-me’ trying to keep it up, until the big CRACK! It’s so much easier to buy a basic pink blouse that everyone has, than buy a pink blouse with a little character :-/. This has been a rich experience; from seeing my blog blossom, I decided to focus my energy on building a new project (still secret) to keep going!

M – You shared a lovely story with us where you mention how our Méduse were a part of your childhood! What place do our jellies have in your life today?

L – Méduses ?? Definitely my childhood !!! As my parents were working a lot, we didn’t go on holiday much, but when we did, we went to the seaside! I’m very sensitive on the feet as my father used to tickle me to wake me up! I never really liked the burning heat of the sand and I really didn’t like the idea of knowing that my feet could walk on something strange, like a hook! (true story!). Fed-up with my complaints, my mother bought me my first pair of Méduses when I was 6 and they were navy blue. Then, when I was about 8, I got a transparent pair, and I felt like I was wearing dolly shoes – so practical as there are no laces!  Moreover, the idea of being able to set foot in the water without risking anything is just great! Even though I’m 28, my habits have not changed and I am pleased that I’ve been able to find a pair of Méduses because they are so useful, they have a nostalgic touch, and not many people dare to wear them yet, but they are missing out on this true fashion accessory! I like the origin and the history – it is a French product, with a unique style for both men, women, youngsters and oldies – it’s even worn by fashionistas around the world! As they say: ‘never two without three’, my third pair of SUN Paille are well into my ‘shoesing’ and this time, I’m sure my feet won’t grow anymore ;-).

lauren jellies

M – And now for your challenge! We challenge you to create a styleboard inspired by your Paille SUN Méduse! Are you up for it? 😉

L – I’m taking up your challenge! It is a great honour for me to highlight my pair of Méduse! It’s if my story with Méduse was written in the stars… I actually have a ‘Jelly Fish’ tattoo on my ankles – it just shows that Méduse will live with me forever.

Attachment-1

Lauren – we love you. You’re officially the coolest cat around! Having Méduse tattooed shows you’re a true jelly lover, and we won’t forget that! Thanks for sharing your stories and style tips with us! It just goes to show that we too love mixing vintage styles with hip-happening fashion – YOU GOT IT! Keep up to date with Lauren’s blog and her retro store DuffleDud!

Méduse Diary – The Ultimate Méduse Fashion Hunt

9 Apr , 2015

150409_Facebook_diary_styleboard_Easter Hunt by Meduse

Each week we cover a theme that is close to our jelly-hearts. We love to dig deep and write our thoughts on trends, fiction and culture in our diary here!

Now we know you’ve been keeping busy with hunting eggs, but now we’re doing our own little hunt, where you can come along too!

Our hunt doesn’t consist of chocolate eggs – oh no, we’ve already moved on from that – instead we’re on the look for some other bits and bobs after Easter, things that are as close to our hearts as chocolate – clothes, music, accessories – you get the gist.

And as we’re well versed in prowling for the latest fashion pieces, let us put on the pair of Méduse that will get us roaring and ready for our hunt. Of course it’s our leopard print Jumpy boots. RIGHT! Now that they’re on – let’s go!

jumpard__023849800_1303_18112014

We’re on the look for something that shouts Easter fashion! And there’s nothing more fitting than this awesome T-Shirt from Petit Bateau, designed by fashion best bunny, Fifi Lapin! IT’S SO CUTE!

Screenshot (35)

We’re not gonna lie to you, we’re guilty of feeling hungry all the time. As soon as the fridge door shuts… it opens again (woops…) so we’ve found the perfect little lunch bag, to stock away our pots of jelly and carrots (come join us Fifi Lapin!) Check out this wild Safari Park lunch bag from Paperchase!

And you know us by now – we search high and low, for the best upcoming talents around the world. And we found something very special, from our homeland of France (quelle surprise)! Electro-musician Sayacet aka Pierre Lefeuvre is a man who we can’t stop listening to. His latest song ‘Mirages’ is an overload of  ear candy (it’s Easter after all). Think M83 with a twist!

We’ve found all the things we’ve been looking for, and well, we’re very happy! *smiles smugly*

We hope you enjoyed the hunt!
