Méduse talks with… KADI LV

25 May , 2016

160428_KADI-LV-POST_02

Say hello to Kadi, a Parisian Art Director, who is fascinated by Korean fashion and the digital world. Make room for our creative dreamer…

M: Hey there Kadi! We’re pleased to have you in the hot-seat! So we’ll give the mic to you! Tell us more about yourself!
K: Hi everyone, my name is Kadi! I am a Parisian 26 year old, crazy about digital and fashion. As a career, I am an Digital Art Director in an agency. In my personal life, I have a fashion blog, Kadi LV, which I created over a year ago. I made it after one of my friends told me to do so, and I don’t regret it in the slightest! I love writing articles, especially about my outfits, inspired by Korean fashion.

M: As you’re an Art director, you must have plenty of cool creative things to keep you busy. Can you tell us more about the projects you work on? Have you always had an artistic mind?
K: In general, I work on website creation for ad campaigns, mobiles and web apps. I also make visuals for specific brands on social networks (mostly on Facebook and Instagram).
Concerning the projects, there are a lot in agencies! My favourite brands that I’ve been working for are Puma and Sony, in partnership with Spotify. It’s a real pleasure because they have a real visual universe which is awesome!
Regarding creation, I have studied art but I always liked painting and drawing (even writing novels) when I was younger. I would say that I have an artistic mind. Nevertheless, digital creation requires a lot of technical skills, which I acquired with different formations.

M: Of course, you’re a fashionista, just like us! What are the trends and styles you’ll be sporting this spring?
K: With great weather just around the corner, open air festivals are on their way (for example Coachella, which just ended). Thus, light blouses, white or with coloured floral patterns are a must have for this spring. Also, casual boho dresses paired with a denim jacket for the day, and with a leather jacket for the night. The good weather gives us the perfect opportunity to wear sandals or ballerinas :-).

M: We have a little fashion challenge for you, and we’re sure you’re gonna ace it. Could you pair one of our summer shoes with a few clothes and accessories you have your eye on?
K: This was a tricky one for me, but my favourite pair is the Capri model in silver. I love the criss-cross design and I think it can fit with a lot of different outfits, for day or night! I have paired it with this gorgeous Oasis dress, a Nasty Gal leather jacket, a Kenzo Kalifornia bag, Quay sunglasses and for a little touch of Korean fashion, a necklace and a bracelet from Kitsch Island.

M: We’re loving the monochrome! Thanks for your fashion inspo, Kadi! Cheers for the chat! Until next time…

Méduse Talks… With Lauren de Samonac

5 Aug , 2015

Lauren bloggeuse

At Méduse, we strive to seek out the underground talents who share our values. Every week, a new star…

‘I actually have a ‘Jelly Fish’ tattoo on my ankles – it just shows that Méduse will live with me forever.’

She’s a sassy entrepreneur with a keen eye for fashion! She loves mixing retro styles with the fashion of the now, and she can’t help but bounce, skip and prance in her Méduse! We speak to Lauren, a blogger and proud owner of a vintage e-store. Et voila!

M – First things first! We’ve seen you sporting our straw-coloured Méduse and we’re intrigued to know more about you! So tell us, who are you Lauren or Loraine? 😉

L – Lauren Samonac is a very long name meaning a lot of things… My name is actually Loraine but Lauren is much quicker to spell 😉 ! I am the daughter of a village shopkeeper and I always learned to deal with myself, as my ten fingers led me to be the independent person I am today. My mum was always busy, doing tons of things other than shopping; my mum wasn’t a fashionista but a talented entrepreneur. As I’m a kinesthetic learner, my education took an artistic turn – I built up my professional experience in the world of show business as an actress, a light and sound technician and a stage decorator! Some wonderful experiences which led me to try my luck as an entrepreneur today.

image1

M – We’ve noticed that not only do you run a personal blog, but you’re also a part of a second-hand / vintage project! Could you tell us a bit more about Duffledud? How does this project have an effect on your own personal style?

L – Duffledud was born in 2012 and allowed me to share my love of bargain-hunting and wearing fashion pieces mixed with cool vintage bits! It’s a way for me to feel like a kid: like being my own person, showing off my own style – that’s what fashion should be about! But Duffledud is slowly coming to an end unfortunately… Because of the big retail industry competition and their low prices, my e-shop is going through a rough patch, despite holding on to budget prices and ‘little-old-me’ trying to keep it up, until the big CRACK! It’s so much easier to buy a basic pink blouse that everyone has, than buy a pink blouse with a little character :-/. This has been a rich experience; from seeing my blog blossom, I decided to focus my energy on building a new project (still secret) to keep going!

M – You shared a lovely story with us where you mention how our Méduse were a part of your childhood! What place do our jellies have in your life today?

L – Méduses ?? Definitely my childhood !!! As my parents were working a lot, we didn’t go on holiday much, but when we did, we went to the seaside! I’m very sensitive on the feet as my father used to tickle me to wake me up! I never really liked the burning heat of the sand and I really didn’t like the idea of knowing that my feet could walk on something strange, like a hook! (true story!). Fed-up with my complaints, my mother bought me my first pair of Méduses when I was 6 and they were navy blue. Then, when I was about 8, I got a transparent pair, and I felt like I was wearing dolly shoes – so practical as there are no laces!  Moreover, the idea of being able to set foot in the water without risking anything is just great! Even though I’m 28, my habits have not changed and I am pleased that I’ve been able to find a pair of Méduses because they are so useful, they have a nostalgic touch, and not many people dare to wear them yet, but they are missing out on this true fashion accessory! I like the origin and the history – it is a French product, with a unique style for both men, women, youngsters and oldies – it’s even worn by fashionistas around the world! As they say: ‘never two without three’, my third pair of SUN Paille are well into my ‘shoesing’ and this time, I’m sure my feet won’t grow anymore ;-).

lauren jellies

M – And now for your challenge! We challenge you to create a styleboard inspired by your Paille SUN Méduse! Are you up for it? 😉

L – I’m taking up your challenge! It is a great honour for me to highlight my pair of Méduse! It’s if my story with Méduse was written in the stars… I actually have a ‘Jelly Fish’ tattoo on my ankles – it just shows that Méduse will live with me forever.

Attachment-1

Lauren – we love you. You’re officially the coolest cat around! Having Méduse tattooed shows you’re a true jelly lover, and we won’t forget that! Thanks for sharing your stories and style tips with us! It just goes to show that we too love mixing vintage styles with hip-happening fashion – YOU GOT IT! Keep up to date with Lauren’s blog and her retro store DuffleDud!

Smile! It’s Ingrid

29 Jul , 2015

smilingrid

At Méduse, we strive to seek out the underground talents who share our values. Every week, a new star…

‘I had a pair of jelly sandals when I was younger and they were the only shoes I would wear’

Méduse talks with… Smilingrid!

She’s a girl who rocks a Hollywood smile, but she comes from buzzing Boston! Ingrid aka ‘Smiling Ingrid’ is a bright and colourful blogger who aims to inspire and share her zest for life! Red lipstick, coffee and jelly shoes are her loves – to mention a few! Take it away Ingrid!

M – So Ingrid, we’ve been looking at your blog and you mention a number of things you love in life (we just mentioned a few above! 😉 ) How would you summarise it in a few lines?

I – I am a very happy person, which is why my blog name combines “smiling” and my name “Ingrid”. My longest-standing passions include language, reading, and (of course) fashion! The first passion led me to study French, the second to study literature and, combined with the third, begin my blog… which then led me to the ever-fashionable Meduse!

M – We’re curious to know – how did you discover Méduse? What do our jelly shoes evoke for you?

I – I discovered Meduse through your blogger collaborations! I had a pair of jelly sandals when I was younger and they were the only shoes I would wear – I even wore them as flower girl at my aunt’s wedding! That memory is the one evoked by your brand, of nostalgia and happiness… paired with lots of beautiful flowers!

M – CHALLENGE: On your blog, you show an unconditional love for fashion! So we must ask… what’s your favourite pair of Méduse? With this, we challenge you to create the perfect outfit with these shoes and show it in a styleboard! Feel free to match it with a varnish, a lipstick… we know you have a taste for those things! 😉

I – Oh my gosh, such a hard choice! I love the Nikita for a night out and the Camino for rainy days… but I think my favorite pair of Méduses would have to be the Sun in gold glitter, because they are the grown up, more chic version of the jellies I had as a child! These are fun!

Méduse for Fall

M – You’re a jet setter, always travelling around the world! Where are you going next? And which pair of Méduse would you pack in your suitcase?

I – I’m heading to Cancun at the end of the month! I would definitely pack a pair of the Méduses Sunlight in Corail to bring with me – they’d be the perfect color against the sea and sand, plus it would be so cool to see them glow at night!

We know it, you know it, Ingrid knows it! She’s got that Méduse vibe that runs in our colourful world and we love it! Her zest for life makes us want to put on our glowing Méduse and skip towards the sun! What a gal! Thank you so much for joining us Ingrid! We love your enthusiasm, and your blog keeps us buzzing! Keep up to date with her snapshots and thoughts on her blog Smiling Ingrid here!

 A bientôt !

X

Each week we cover a theme that is close to our jelly-hearts. We love to dig deep and write our thoughts on trends, fiction and culture in our diary here!

With the fashion weeks over and Spring officially starting on the 20th March, we’re feeling… well very seasonal! This Spring / Summer 15 we’re excited to reveal that we have two awesome colours which are joining our Méduse family! And they are the Saumon, a pinky-peachy salmon shade, and the Vert d’eau, a minty sea-green!

Meduse Spring Shades

Méduse Diary – Style Inspired by Francoise Hardy & Catherine Deneuve

12 Mar , 2015

Méduse inspiration French Icon Image

Each week we cover a theme that is close to our jelly-hearts. We love to dig deep and write our thoughts on trends, fiction and culture in our diary here!

French fashion – yes, people may immediately think CHIC, however there is so much more to our style than just this term.

It’s edgy. It’s dynamic. It’s eye-catching. It’s classic with a twist. It’s simple, yet eclectic.

French Icons

And since 1946, we’ve been inspired by a whole range of icons – where do we start? Well there’s the obvious Brigitte Bardot and Charlotte Gainsbourg. But there are so many other heroes that have sparked us since we were born. Today we’re highlighting two idols whose style is timeless. Of course, there’s a Méduse twist!

Francoise Hardy

Françoise Hardy. Oooh my – her style symbolises the best of balancing casualwear with a quirky touch. Her effortless looks inspired this casual yet colourful collection with a Méduse spin!

1

And lastly, how could we not highlight the epitome of gorgeous girly French style. It’s Catherine Deneuve!

Charlotte Deneuve

Her looks are summer-loving, with popping candy colours and bursts of sunshine yellows. Our inspired look below is one that we will be showing off, especially as it features our brand new NIKITA style jelly shoe.

Untitled design (8)

Two looks. Two very different styles. Both French originals.

What inspired look do you prefer?

Diary of a Zany Zebra Jumpy Boot

10 Mar , 2015

Méduse Jumpy boots zebra style board

Born free, strutting my striped stuff down the street.

Whether it’s black with white stripes or white with black, monchrome is my mantra. Jumpy Zebra boots clip clop along the pavement, my zebra hip-hop sweatshirt shouts safari bling, a long black cape billowing like a tail behind me as I walk, and black skinny jeans which have been running in the wild.

I am the urban zebra.

This is my city safari.

zebra

Find me with my herd  – my closest friends, sitting for hours in some ‘tucked away’ South African restaurant. Or whiling away the day in a hidden green spot in the city. Bring me the sun, all day, everyday and I could happily sit and wonder in a park, away from the busy city.

Zebra Moodboard

But, don’t think I’m boring… I’m flighty! I’m easily distracted. I’m constantly curious. Play a sound over there and I’m tuned in, listening, following the urge to jump around in my wild Jumpy boots.

Oh, and whilst I might not dress in colour, I live in a colourful world, with a room decorated in mismatched shades, with paints and sketches surrounding me. This is my favourite piece…I wonder why!? ;p

Screenshot (51)

As much as I love zooming around my city safari when the sun’s out, I really come alive when the sun goes down. My eyes POP – I’m always in search of that night time pulse. Strobe lighting, arty food for my dinner, secret pop-ups that’s only my secret, you name it – I’M THERE.

I’m going to shut my eyes now, I’ll see you at dawn… Zzzz…

Sweatshirt – Wolf & Badger
Jeans – Topshop
Ring – ShopBop

A Cosy Christmas with Méduse…

24 Dec , 2014

Méduse Jumpy boots marron Style board

We felt inspired, it’s Christmas after all! Just one look at our chestnut coloured JUMPY boots got us

in the mood for, well, ‘chestnuts roasting on an open fire’.

It’s been a busy year and we’ve got lots of exciting things lined up for 2015. Get ready for Who’s

Next in January, our new S/S ’15 campaign release and much more!

But before all that excitement…we’re thinking of coming in from the cold, kicking off our Méduse

and putting on some Nat King Cole and Bing Crosby to really put us in the mood.

Candles lit. Fluffy hat? Of course. Crackling vinyl – playing. Marron / Noir Jumpy boots waiting to be

taken out for a walk tomorrow? Certainly.

What about you?

xoxo
